Bowling is an activity in The Sims 2: Nightlife, The Sims 3: University Life, and The Sims 4: Bowling Night Stuff.

The Sims 2: Nightlife

Bowling alleys are objects introduced in The Sims 2: Nightlife. Anyone who is a child or older can play solo or in groups of up to four Sims. They may bowl autonomously, and may autonomously join a group. Bowling builds the body skill, and Sims with higher body skill bowl better. If FreeTime is installed, it also raises enthusiasm for the games hobby.

While bowling alleys can be placed on residential lots, in practice the length of a bowling alley tends to make bowling a community lot activity. Bowling alleys will contain a "pit" area at the back, which will penetrate walls and fences and can be decorated with anchored awning.

During a game, a Sim will bowl 10 times, matching the standard 10 frames of a real-life game. Sims who are waiting to bowl will use any nearby chairs, and will socialize while waiting their turn.

Bowling returns in The Sims 3: University Life, and any Sim who is a child or older can bowl. Unlike The Sims 2: Nightlife, only two Sims can bowl at a time, and Sims will not sit down on nearby chairs when waiting their turn. Sims will bowl ten times, but will not get a second attempt if they bowl a spare; each turn ends as soon as a Sim has bowled once. When a game ends, the player will get a notification with how many points each player scored.

Bowling will increase a Sim's hidden jock skill. It also builds the hidden bowling skill, with inept bowlers being more to fall and fail while skilled are probable to land a strike.

The Sims 4: Bowling Night Stuff

Bowling! It's the adrenaline packed game that's sweeping the nation... again! Bowling was reintroduced in The Sims 4: Bowling Night Stuff. Bowling alleys can be used by anyone who is a child or older. Bowling is also a new 5 level skill in the stuff pack and its ideal emotion is focused. When children use the bowling alley, gutter bumpers are automatically enabled. Moonlight bowling is also available in the pack after hours, illuminating the entire bowling alley in bright and flashing cyan/blue colors; this will provide Sims with a "Playful Décor" moodlet, making them playful.

Getting a strike will make Sims playful.^{[confirmation needed]} However, Sims will become angry if they get too many gutter balls. An extremely rare feat, known as a perfect llama, is achieved when a Sim bowls ten consecutive strikes in a single game. A perfect llama is also a new in-game achievement, worth 125 points (the most of any other achievement in The Sims 4), and grants the Sim access to a new trophy in build mode.
