Create a Pet
Creating a cat.
Basics[edit | edit source]
- Name: Type in the Pet's first and last name.
- Gender: Choose either male or female.
- Age: Choose either adult or elder.
Breeds[edit | edit source]
- For a list of pet breeds, see List of pet breeds#The Sims 3: Pets.
- Choose a breed. There are 46 cat breeds, 46 small dog breeds, 72 large dog breeds and 30 horse breeds.
Coat[edit | edit source]
Cats and Dogs[edit | edit source]
- Coat Color: Choose from many different preset coats, or enter Advanced Mode for further customization. Choose a coat color from the default presets of grey, black, silver, light brown, and brown, or customize via the color wheel.
- Fur Shape: Choose from a variety of default coat shapes, or enter Advanced Mode for further customization.
- Tail: Choose between long, short, or a curled tail (for dogs).
Horses[edit | edit source]
- Coat Color: Choose from many different preset coats, or enter Advanced Mode for further customization. Choose a coat color from the default presets of grey, black, silver, light brown, and brown, or customize via the color wheel.
- Mane: Choose from 6 different manes and change its color with several presets or the color wheel.
- Tail: Choose from 4 different tails and change its color with several presets or the color wheel.
- Feathering: Choose to have feathering on the horse's legs and select the length of the feathering.
Shape[edit | edit source]
All of the following may be further customized with Advanced Mode.
- Full Body: Choose from several default full body shapes.
- Body: Choose from several default body shapes.
- Head: Choose from several default head shapes.
- Eyes: Choose from several default eye shapes. Select from a few preset eye colors, or set eye color for individual eyes.
- Snout: Choose from several different snout shapes. Change the color of the nose using the slider.
- Ears: Choose from several different ear shapes.

Cats and Dogs[edit | edit source]
- Choose a collar (optional). There are 36 collars for both cats and dogs.
Horses[edit | edit source]
- Riding: Choose a bridle. There are 9 bridles. Choose a saddle. There are 21 saddles. Choose other accessories (optional). There are 15 accessories.
- Leading: Choose a bridle. There are 9 bridles.
Personality[edit | edit source]
- For a list of pet traits, see Pet trait (The Sims 3).
- Traits: Choose up to three traits for the pet.
- Voice: Adjust pitch of pet's voice.
- Write a pet biography.
Advanced Mode[edit | edit source]
Advanced Mode is a tool in Create a Pet which allows for further modification and customization of pets. The tool is divided into two parts for the coat and shape of the pet. The tools can be accessed from the 'Coat' and 'Shape' sections of Create a Pet, respectively.
Pet Coat Advanced Mode[edit | edit source]
Pet Coat Advanced Mode is a tool in Create a Pet included in both the PC version and console version of the game. In the 'Layers' section of the tool, players may create layers of markings on various regions of their pet, as well as organizing the layers by shifting them up and down. Players may also change the fur shape of their pet in the 'Fur Shape' section of the tool, using sliders to mix and match different breed shapes. More sliders for the customization of fur length, fur density, curl size and curliness are also available. Players may save their custom coats and upload them on the exchange.
Pet Shape Advanced Mode[edit | edit source]
Pet Shape Advanced Mode is a tool in Create a Pet included in both the PC version and console version of the game. The tool allows players to adjust the shapes of the face and body regions of the pet in great detail. Each individual feature of the pet can be customized with various sliders to create a unique looking pet.
