Own and manage restaurants – Hire the best and fire the rest! Choose uniforms, set the menu and prices, and chat up diners to boost customer satisfaction. Aim for a five-star rating or build a multi-restaurant empire to really rake in the Simoleons.
Dine out with your Sims – Take your Sims out to enjoy a delicious meal. Catch up with friends over brunch, spend time with family, or treat your Sims to a romantic date, without having to do the dishes.
Experiment with new food – Adventurous Sims can dig into new experimental cuisine that looks as good as it (hopefully) tastes! Serious foodies can snap food selfies to memorialize these edible masterpieces. Plus, dine out enough and your Sims will learn to cook these dishes at home.

New gameplay mechanics[edit | edit source]
Dine Out introduces the new restaurant venue, which is the main focus of the pack. Restaurants act similarly as they did in The Sims 2. Players can see inside the building, and Sims that have entered can be seen and directed. Sims can go to the host station to order a table, and the host will then direct them to a nearby table that has at least one chair. Groups of Sims, such as ones on a date, on an outing with friends or on a club gathering[TS4:GT], can be placed together at the same table. Sims can then call the waiter and order up to one meal and one drink at a time. Sims can eat more meals if they wish, which will add to their bill. The food menu shows 4 categories, drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert. Restaurants can serve any type of food or drinks, along with different presets for the Sims to choose from.
Sims can also own, build, and manage restaurants. A Sims can buy a restaurant from the Owned Businesses Panel, and is then ordered to choose a lot from any kind of world. After building the restaurant with the required objects and hiring employees, Sims can open the restaurant and start managing it the way they want. Customer satisfaction is a very important thing for the restaurant owners, as satisfied customer will give out points, that can be used to buy different kind of perks to help out the restaurant. Employees can be promoted and be leveled up, to raise the satisfaction of the customers.
Experimental food is a new food type in Dine Out. Sims can learn these recipes by eating them and then cooking them with the chef station with the right cooking skill. Sims can also take pictures of these foods, which are related to the brand new collection regarding this food.
A brand new radio station called "Jazz" is introduced, that Sims can listen to with radio stations.
Over 100 buy and build mode items are introduced in Dine Out, for building the perfect restaurant. Some of these include chef stations, host and waiter stations, and dining booths, along with new clothing for Sims to dress in the perfect fashion when going to the restaurants.
Pre-made restaurants[edit | edit source]
Dine Out comes with several pre-made restaurants. Chez Llama is an experimental food restaurant, Hogan's Burger Bar is a diner restaurant, Villa Bovine is an Italian restaurant, L'Attente Bistro is a bistro restaurant, The Diving Pelican is a seafood restaurant and Sunny Side Up Diner is a brunch restaurant. Foods and beverages served by restaurants, and restaurant staff outfits can be customized by going into build mode from the Manage Worlds screen.
