Grace Gerne is the daughter of Evangeline and Phillipe Gerne. The two were very calm and tranquil people, they were hippies. Grace's parents met Nancy Blandswuggle -a ghost- at a festival. Evangeline and Phillipe asked Nancy why she was at a festival of all places for a ghost, to which she replied that jazz festivals make her feel at home. Evangeline noticed that Nancy had very good cleaning ability at the festival as well as other maternal traits, and so the Gerne's hired Nancy as a nanny/babysitter for a 1 year old Grace.
When Grace was 13, she realised she had magical abilities when a young boy cycled out onto the road, and a large car came speeding round the corner, and hurled straight for the boy. Grace raised her hand, to which a burst of purple was omitted from Grace to the boy rapidly, he was lifted from the ground and unharmed. Ashamed of their daughter rather than proud, Evangeline and Phillipe left Nancy in charge of Grace as they feared her. Nancy took Grace back to her house which was now enormous. The two built a tower for Grace to practice her magic as much as she wanted and the two live happily now.
