Hortense Dortheimer is a member of the 12th generation of the wealthy Dortheimer Legacy. She is so far the most famous Sim in the entire family.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Hortense and her identical twin sister Francine were born in Pleasantview to Lisbeth Dortheimer and the latter's flirt Régis Moreau. The two never met her father: Lisbeth never wanted a serious relationship and did not plan of having the twins. As soon as they were born, Lisbeth decided to focus on her daughters instead of her, and asked her twin sister Claudette some help raising them. Claudette, who recently had a daughter, Florence, herself, gladly accepted.

They needed a bigger house (even if the actual one already was pretty big) and started some researches.

By some extraordinary coincidence, some very very distant relatives who lived in Twinbrook, wanted to move out their marshy mansion to live in a more peaceful town. Even if they were really distant (the most recent ancestor they had in common was Josine Dortheimer, from the third generation of the family); the Dortheimer family always has been united and the bond between its members resisted through time), they decided to simply swap their houses.

Upon arriving in Twinbrook, they found a huge manor with expensive yet decaying woodwork and cracked painting. However, this atmosphere pleased them instantly. Outside of it, there was a foggy cemetery and a small mausoleum, and a strange, doorless and windowless shed.

Francine and Hortense always shared a strong bond, even if they were really different. Hortense was very active and loved socializing while Francine was shy, preferring reading alone. They got along rather well with their cousin, but the latter tended to be rude with other kids at school, an attitude that did not please to the twins. Moreover, Florence and Lisbeth did not get along at all.

Adulthood and moving to Starlight Shores[edit | edit source]

When she grew into a young adult, Hortense took a job as a Magician under the stage name of the Amazing Hortense, as she really wanted to become famous and be in contact with other people. Parallelly, she organized many dinner parties at the mansion and invited the classiest and richest people in town.

However, Claudette died of Old Age. And the hatred Lisbeth and Florence accumulated over the years exploded into the open and decided that one of them had to go away. They had a huge quarrel about which one kept the manor. Florence won, and Lisbeth packed and went to Starlight Shores. Francine and Hortense had to chose between their mother and remaining in Twinbrook with their cousin. But even if they loved the small township in the swamps, they followed their mother in the unknown town.

They arrived in Starlight Shores and bought a nice brown two-stairs brickhouse on the cliffs with a garden full of flowers, a pool, a swimming pool, a cemetery, a giant TV and an outside Hot tub. They instantly loved the house and the landmark.

Hortense continued to practice her new stunts and she heard of a SimFest taking place in Jesse Lu's park. Her performance was a big success, and she even won the price. She then gained her very first celebrity star. After that, she gained even more self-confidence and beginning to be in the limelight more often. Adnd the celebrity stars piled up.

She abandoned the dinner parties to focus almost exclusively on her career and after some time of practice, she reached the top of the career and the maximum celebrity. She had a negtive consequence though. Francine, as Hortense's closest friend, also became famous. However, this is not a good thing at all when you're a detective like her...

All Hortense's performance were ovationed, and she amazed people with her sword stunt and flowing herself into concrete without a damage. She gained mountains of cash, fulfilling her lifetime wish, and got a mysterious lamp...

She therefore met the lamp's genie, Désirée Al Fahad, and wished for Love. Earlier, she fell for a cute paparazzi named Léonard who took pictures of her during her performances all around town, and the genie made ihim fall in love with the famous magician. They married, and Hortense got pregnant with her daughter, Caro. During this time, she became more discreet and stopped appearing on scene. However, she was eager to return on stage.

She then wished for Money, increasing her already consistent fortune, and finally freed the Genie. Désirée then became a full part of the family, and was very useful to clean the house and making food appear on its own.

After Lisbeth death, Hortense decided to travel around the world to gain WORLD-fame. She visited countless towns in SimNation and her performances were as acclaimed as ever. She visited many of her distant cousins, such as Noëlle and Flora in Appaloosa Plains, Amanda in Huntsville, Perlanne in Riverview, Anneliese and Irina in Sunset Valley, Armande and Armelle in Pleasantview as well as many others. But her biggest travel was to Twinbrook where she visited her old cousin, who now had kids. Florence's eldest daughter Ankha already died of Mummy's curse, leaving a very yound daughter, Mina, behind. She met Thibault and Raina, and the two cousins once removed enjoyed her shows a lot. Thibault was so impressed that he decided to follow in Hortense's footsteps, but he would later succomb after being encased in concrete during a spectacle...

However, even if Hortense is acclaimed as a magician, she is not very popular among the Sims she knows, as her everyday Diva attitude go on some Sims' nerves. Her daughter is a very skilled card-player. She spends her entire days playing card games and practice a lot. She participates to every single ard tournament she hears about and almost never loses thanks to her skills, and many Sims are very jealous and scatter some paltry rumors about her cheating everytime, even if it's not true. This causes some problems to Hortense as these rumors might someday stain her reputation...

After her husband's tragic drowning in the sea, Hortense fell in a deep clinical depression and her sister send her to a calm place where she could take care of her mental health quietly: the small township of Huntsville. Her distant cousin Amanda welcomed her at her red seashore villa, with her two toddler daughters Gladys and Déborah. Amanda was a very good host and took care of Hortense marvellously. They pratteld a lot, and Hortense helped Amanda to raise her daughters. This helped her to overcome her husband's death. She also benefited of her cousin's private beach to tan.

She returned to Starlight Shores and on stage, where she was as successful and skilled as ever. She however had a small encounter with justice: she once bought an expensive car, but however it was later revealed that the car had in fact been stolen a month ago by one of the rogue car salesmen. She was suspected to be a fence, as the judges first thought she knew it was a stolen property and wanted to sell it later. But her innocence was proved and the charges were dropped.

However, she finally snuffed out when a water pipe snapped, sprinkling her while she was repairing her giant screen TV, resulting in her electrocution. She was buried in the family's private graveyard.
