Jessica Colby (née Jacobs, formerly Maylenderton and Riverhawk) is a SimNationion CEO, politician, and socialite.

Although she has been both a CEO and (briefly) a Leader, she is mostly known for being the first and later last wife of Leader of the Free World Thatcher Maylenderton. Initially, Jessica and Thatcher divorced after five years together, although they eventually remarried thirty years later. The full extent of their long, complicated relationship was not made public until after the death of Thatcher.

Jessica returned in The Sims 3 four years after her original story finished with new traits and a modified life story. She retains her ambitiousness, but also has a more materialistic and vindictive personality than before

Jessica also makes an appearance The Sims 4 as the first wife of Thatcher Maylenderton.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Young Adulthood, First Marriage, and Divorce[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about Jessica's childhood as she refuses to talk about it. Her parents remain unknown, as is where she was born. Jessica once talked about obtaining a degree in business from Sims University, but no record of her ever attending exists.

While working as a paparazzi, it was Jessica's job to create interest in the subjects she was photographing. She started a small rumor about an inappropriate relationship regarding Vice President Thatcher Maylenderton and Leader of Hidden Springs Catarina Vanderburg. The rumor ballooned into a full blown crisis, and a result of the rumor, Thatcher and Catarina stopped appearing together at functions, and didn't make a public appearance together until just before Catarina died of cancer. Records from many government officials indicate that an affair between the Vice President and the Leader was unlikely due to the sheer amount of work Catarina was doing at the time. According to these officials Catarina didn't have enough time for her children at the time, much less have time to ignite a love affair. The rumor is what initially started public interest into the romantic life of Thatcher Maylenderton, something that would follow him almost for the rest of his life.

Thatcher Maylenderton spotted Jessica Jacobs outside of town hall one morning, and demanded she lay the rumor to rest. Jessica apologized for her actions and the two shortly became friends. A secret relationship was started soon afterwords and Jessica moved into Thatchers famous mock-Tudor house. The couple announced their engagement that Spring, and were married a few months later in the towns newly constructed wedding chapel. Attendees included the Vanderburg Royal Family, Ophera and Ronald Hunt, Bert Alto, and many more.

In her memoir, Colby described the marriage as "boring." Thatcher spent most of his time working at town hall, and the marriage fizzled out after two years. Thatcher was later reported to have multiple affairs with many men during this time period, although Jessica was not made aware of just how many men until after Thatcher's death. Eventually Jessica, knowing her marriage was going to end soon, began a relationship with newly divorced Christoff Colby and then asked Thatcher for a divorce. Because no pre-nup was signed, the divorce took longer than expected, and Jessica soon became pregnant with Christoff's child. The pregnancy left Thatcher no choice but to publicly announce that he and Jessica were getting a divorce. Seven months later Jessica's baby, a boy named Jonathon, was born and the divorced was finalized one month later.

Second Marriage, and Business Career[edit | edit source]

Jessica, who had been unemployed during her five year marriage to Thatcher, married Christoff Colby only a few days after her divorce was finalized. The divorce left Jessica with more than enough money to live off of, but she got as job on the business career anyway. Her lifelong dream of being a CEO was eventually realized when she became the first female CEO of Doo Peas Corporate Tower/Hidden Springs Branch. The Colby marriage was initially unstable, with tensions run high after a fire burned their new new house to the ground, but eventually they settled in and remained married for 10 years. Their marriage ended tragically when Christoff was killed in an electrical fire the day after Jessica was elected Governor of Hidden Springs.

Political Career, Third Marriage and Divorce[edit | edit source]

Jessica decided to enter the political field after her ex-husband, Thatcher Maylenderton, became the de facto Leader of the town due to Catarina Vanderburg's illness. She initially wanted to be his political rival and take the position of Leader for herself. Jessica ran for Governor of Hidden Springs, and narrowly beat her rial, Astrid Pertridge. However, Jessica and Thatcher worked together much better than either of them expected and he asked her to be his running mate for the emergency election following Catarina's death. The pair won the election by a large margin and Jessica started developing feelings for Thatcher once more. A brief affair followed, which ended after a few months when Thatcher's wife, Ophera, became Jessica's secretary. Jessica and Ophera became friendly acquaintances, but Ophera never liked that her husband and his ex-wife were spending so much time together. Jessica then began a relationship with Nicholas Riverhawk, her first serious relationship since her husband died. The two got married after a six month courtship, but were divorced by their second anniversary.

Jessica's memoir revealed that she and Thatcher reignited their affair shortly after she got married to Nicholas. After she became pregnant with Thatcher's child, she considered stepping down from her position of Vice President. She ultimately decided against the idea, but hid her pregnancy from Thatcher and the general public. Immediately after the birth of her child (who she gave up for adoption), Jessica told Nicholas the truth and he left her. The divorce settlement was pretty much the exact same as the settlement Jessica received when she divorced Thatcher (the exiting spouse gets all the household money, and while the staying souse gets to keep the house and doesn't need to pay alimony). She made Nicholas sign an agreement in which he was forbidden to talk about the marriage or divorce to reporters, or else be hit with fines and jail time. The divorce left Jessica completely broke, although she quickly recovered.

Despite initially wanting nothing to do with her new biological son, Vice President Colby used her political powers to track down his adoptive parents, who had since named him Wesley. Wesley's parents, Pablo and Jennifer Martinez did not know she was the biological mother of their son, and thought it was strange that the Vice President wanted to get to know them. Jessica ended their friendly relationship after having a one night stand with Pablo. She never contacted the family again, and eventually told Thatcher the truth.

Thatcher moved in with Jessica few months later, acting indifferent to the news of another biological son. His wife of eighteen years, Ophera had just died and Thatcher let his life spiral out of control. His multiple affairs after Ophera's death became a fixture in tabloid news and resident of Hidden Springs were calling for his resignation. Jessica took care of selling Thatcher's longtime home (which was sold at a massive loss due to Thatcher's poor renovation projects he took on to distract himself from Ophera's death.)

Becoming Leader, Second Marriage to Thatcher Maylenderton and Move to Appaloosa Plains[edit | edit source]

Thatcher's mental health started to improve after he married Blake Grayson, though the two divorced after less than a year. After this Thatcher decided to step down from his position of Leader of Hidden Springs, thus making Jessica leader. She lead for a year and a half, and the only noteworthy thing that was accomplished in that short amount of time was her remarriage to Thatcher. The two started dating after Thatcher got divorced and he asked her to marry him at his son, Ryan's, wedding. She said yes. This caused an estrangement between Thatcher and Ryan, as rumors of the inappropriate relationship between the Vice President and Leader had been around for years. Jessica aged to an elder and retired from the Leader position. Eventually Thatcher and Ryan started talking again, and Thatcher decided to move with his son when Ryan was asked to be the new Chief of Staff at the Appaloosa Plains Hospital.

The rest of Jessica's life has so far been uneventful. She remained married to Thatcher for the final eighteen years of his life (the same amount of time he was married to Ophera for). He died peacefully at their home after visiting his grandchildren. Jessica's biological son, Jonathon, never married and has no children.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • So far, Jessica has acquired 115270 lifetime points.
  • At the time of Thatcher's death, the couple's shared wealth was over 1.1 million dollars.
  • Jessica technically a Sims 2 counterpart (just like Thatcher, Ronald and Ophera), but I don't remember what her name was and her story was not nearly as detailed as the Sims 3 version.
  • Jessica is hypocritical, as she was very angry at Thatcher for engaging in multiple affairs while they were married, yet she was technically having one at the same time. She even had one with Thatcher while married to her third husband, and had a one night stand with the adoptive father of her biological son.
  • Jessica mastered the logic skill.
  • Jessica spread a rumor that then Vice President Thatcher Maylenderton was having an affair with then Leader Catarina Vanderburg, only to end up being the Vice President that had an affair with the Leader Thatcher Maylenderton 25 years later.
  • Jessica changed her last name to the name of each of her husband's at the time they were married, but changed it back to Colby after Thatcher died.
  • In the first version of the Sims 3 Jessica, she remains married to Christoff for many years but then has an affair with Thatcher's teenage son, Ryan. When news of the affair hits the public, Thatcher is forced to resign as Leader of Hidden Springs. After this I started over from Thatcher's first move to Hidden Springs and redid the story.
  • Jessica is an edited version of Jessica Richards.
  • Jessica had long brown hair for half her life, then shorter blonde hair after becoming Thatcher's Vice President.
  • All my Sims 3 sims have an official color associated to them. Her official color is purple.

Jessica reappeared in Hidden Springs in an updated version of her life story. Her new traits are Snob, Over-emotional, and Schmoozer, while she retains her Ambitious and Virtuoso traits. Her Lifetime Wish changed from CEO of a Mega-Corporation to Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous. She has visions of grandeur about herself, and believes it is her destiny to become a household name.

Young Adulthood and relationship with Sebastian Vanderburg[edit | edit source]

Jessica Jacobs begins her life in Hidden Springs, SimNation. Shortly after arriving to her new home she saw a limousine carrying the royal Vanderburg family drive by. This started an infatuation with the royal family, and Jessica began researching each individual member in order to learn their hobbies and grow closer to them.

Shortly after her arrival to Hidden Springs, Jessica began a quiet relationship with Prince Sebastian, whom she had coincidentally met the local library at a chance run-in. At the time, he was second in line to the SimNationion throne; his mother is Catarina Vanderburg, Queen of SimNation. The queen was initially reported to be very impressed with the young Jessica and hoped that her (Jessica's) youth and media-savvy would breathe new life into the reputation of the monarchy.

Jessica became very close to the Queen; she had unrestricted access to the Vanderburg Home, and frequently advised the Queen on political and social matters. She also helped update the Queen's wardrobe, which temporarily increased the public opinion of both Jessica and the Queen herself. Public opinion turned negative, however, when it was revealed that taxpayers funds partially paid for the queens expensive clothing, and that Jessica also received thousands of dollars worth of new clothes on taxpayers dime.

Jessica was then put in charge of a massive restoration of the Vanderburg House that winter. The royal family was reported to have hated the finished results of the restoration effort so much that they canceled the scheduled televised tour of the home that was to take place the following spring. Although the restoration was not paid for directly by taxpayers, critics argued that a massive restoration of the royal home during a recession proved how out of touch the royal family had become, and calls for the monarchy to be abolished greatly increased.

Young Adulthood[edit | edit source]

Jessica returned in The Sims 4 as a young adult.
