Keith "Keef" Smith was the son of Johnny and Ophelia Smith and the younger brother of Mick Smith. He was important in the Curious family as the husband of Deena Smith (née Curious) and the father of their son Jack Smith.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before joining the family[edit | edit source]

Keef was born as the second son of Johnny and Ophelia Smith and the younger brother of Mick. Although his birth name is actually Keith, Keef was quickly nicknamed Keef as Mick couldn never pronounce his name correctly as a toddler. Ophelia and Johnny liked it and the name kind of stuck. His grandfather Pollination Tech 9 Smith died when he was really young and Keef only remembers his bright red Hawaiian shirt he always wore.

Most of the time Ophelia took the most care of Keef and his brother Mick, this is why she taught them most of their toddler skills. She taught Keef how to walk and go potty, while Johnny taught him how to talk. Growing up, Keef learned that the house they lived in used to belong to Ophelia's aunt. The house would often have many guests at night, which for the longest time frightened Keef. When he became a little older, he realized that these guests were lovely and well meaning Sims, often excited to get to know him and spend time with him when his parents wouldn't. Because even though he loved his parents, they wouldn't make much time out of their busy schedules to spend some time with him. Even his brother often seemed more interested in school or his girlfriend Cassey Beaker. Through his nightly adventures he got to know his grandparents Creon and Willow Nigmos, as well as several other Sims that seemed stuck on the lot. Whenever Keef would ask them how they ended up there, they would avoid the question or start talking about something else, leaving Keef wonder what had actually happened to them in life.

When entering high school, he meets Deena Curious and immediately develops a crush on her. Not sure how to handle any living Sims, Keef rushes home to asks his brother for some advice. Mick just laughs at him and wishes him luck, knowing he won't ever be able to pull it off. His nightly friends suggest that he makes some more friends in school, who might be able to help him out and see if Deena likes him. Reluctantly he agrees and meets Buzz Grunt jr., a fellow alien. To his surprise he actually gets along with Buzz and the two become friends. Luckily for Keef Buzz understands the lady Sims a lot better than him. He gives Keef a few tips and then tells him to go for it. Not sure of he should, Keef decides to go for it and talks to Deena. She seems receptive to his chatting, which is already a big relief for him. Having had a nice chat, Keef happily returns to Buzz and expects him to be proud. Instead Buzz tells him that he should be careful and should make his intensions clear otherwise he will be stuck in the friendzone. Not wanting that to happen, Keef returns to Deena once more and asks her if she would like to go out sometimes. To his horror Deena starts laughing, but then says she would love to. Relieved and excited, he returns to Buzz who high fives him.

After school, Keef is excited to go home and tell his nightly friends. However, when the night falls, no one shows up. This continues for the next few days, making Keef worried for them. After not seeing them for weeks Keef realizes they somehow have moved on and left the lot. He has started dating Deena and he still is good friends with Buzz, making him realize that perhaps he doesn't need them anymore.

Adulthood[edit | edit source]

After graduation his brother Mick moved out of the house and married his high school sweetheart Cassey. Shorty after that both his parents died in their sleep, leaving Keef alone in the once so busy house. He asks if Deena would like to move in together, as they are still dating and she accepts. Keef starts a job in the politics career, hoping to contribute to the future of aliens in Strangetown. Wanting to put up a good example and loving Deena dearly, he proposes to her which she accepts as well. It doesn't take long before Deena lets him know that she is pregnant. Keef is excited as he knows this will also do well in his polls. He suggests that Deena stays a stay at home mom for now, which at first she declines. When he explains how much better it would be for the baby, as well as how much it would help him career wise she agrees.

For their wedding Keef likes it to be in their once haunted front yard, but Deena declines saying she doesn't want to marry around a bunch of graves. They compromise and the two get married in a part of their yard where you can't see the graves. Most of Deena's family was there, while Mick showed up with his wife and toddler Ben and left halfway the ceremony with the excuse that they didn't pack enough diapers for him. Keef was disappointed, but not surprised. He was amazed by the closeness of the Curious members, as many cousins, second cousins and even third cousins showed up to congratulate the two and have a talk with Keef, joking about his upcoming fatherhood or having to be part of the infamous Curious family now. Not sure how to feel about his new status as Curious at first, he later realized that he would have a big part of the town in his favor now as they were family after all.

His son Jack Smith was born and to his disappointment Jack did not have the same skin color as Keef. Hoping he could have used it to portray the perfect mixed alien family, Keef has to change strategies. Luckily for him the people of Strangetown do not seem to mind, as Jack is still an incredibly cute baby. He works hard and is happy that Deena is there for little Jack to take care of him 24/7, as he mostly does not have the time or the energy. When Deena wants to talk about schools for Jack, Keef lets her know that he doesn't really mind as long as it is the best for him. She agrees and decides to put him into private school.

Climbin up his career, and gaining more popularity in town, Keef tries to get in touch with his brother Mick, to see if there are things he should be worried about that might come up for him. The two haven't spoken in years, and Mick makes it clear that he is not interested in getting back in touch with his brother. If Keef leaves him alone, he promises that nothing strange will come up from his side. Although he is sad to hear this, Keef agrees. When he tells Deena this she is outraged and is ready to call up Mick to let him know that this isn't something you do to family, but Keef calms her down and tells her that his family works very different from hers and that she should let it be.

He is proud to see his son grow into a handsome young man, that often turns around many heads of girls and boys. Jack is a little shy and it reminds him of himself a lot in this time. He encourages Jack to be a little bit more outspoken and out there, which often makes Jack even more shy.

Elderhood[edit | edit source]

Getting older, Keef realizes that he wasted a lot of his time on his career. Even though he has been very successful and has achieved everything he ever wanted, he still feels a little empty inside. When he hears his brother has passed away, Keef realizes that it is time to bond with his family before it is too late. He missed big parts of Jack's life and it is time to make up for that lost time if he can still can. He also realizes that he neglected Deena for the longest time and apologizes to her, while trying to rekindle their relationship. He retires and is happy to hear when Jack is engaged to Marie Mazza.

Unfortunately Jack is not as forgiving as Deena, and it takes Keef a long time to create a bond with him. Keef really does not want to end up like his brother and parents and does everything he can to make sure it won't. He helps a great deal with Jack and Marie's wedding, offering to give Marie away as her parents are not alive anymore and when their children Morgan and Phineas are born, he offers to change every diaper he can put his hands on. Jack notices his efforts and sees that he is meaning well, but also jokes that he sometimes need him be a parent as well. Keef gets the hint and slows down on the extremes. He loves playing peek-a-boo with Morgan and as it seems Keef has finally turned himself into a Curious. A little while later Keef dies of old age.
