Kendal Curious (née Lawson) was known as the wife of Matteo Curious and the mother of Mara Curious.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before joining the family[edit | edit source]

The family Lawson had years and years of build wealth and power, but it was a surprising move when Kendal's parents decided to settle down in a small town like Strangetown. When they heard about the green creatures that had slowly come and settle down over the years they assumed the other residents would complain and perhaps even wanted to sue them or the town for unsafe behavior. Much to their surprise, many residents had mixed, mingled and befriended them, and they had become a regular part of the town. Althought Kendal's parents had a desire to leave the boring and slightly creepy town rather sooner than later, they decided to stick around for a little bit as they had invested a lot of money in their business. It was then that Kendal was adopted by them as they felt they had nothing else to do otherwise.

Her parents were happy that Kendal was a normal Sim, but quickly realized that adopting a child is a lot more work than a cat or a dog. Kendal was well taken care of and often spoiled with the finer things growing up. It could be said that she was loved, although it wasn't the typical parental love that you would expect. As Kendal grew older her parents pointed out how important education is for the Lawson family members, as it was expected of her to follow on their parent's footsteps. It was at this time that she also overheard her parents' concern of her not being a "real" Lawson, which might mean she won't be able to handle the pressure of the law, just like the other members. They weren't entirely wrong, as it soon become clear that Kendal did not care much for school at all. She loved spending time dressing up and finding new ways to wear the same outfits. When her parents started noticing they voiced their concerns to her and even threatened her with times to take away her things if she did not focus on her school.

Her parents applied for her to go to SimCity Academy, one of the best private schools in Strangetown. But because of her average grade this application was denied. Kendal didn't seem to mind as she thought her public school was just fine, but again her parents were disappointed. As Kendal grew in her teens her parents expressed that they wanted to move away from Strangetown, as their business had not come off the ground and they did not like Strangetown and their people. It was around this time that Kendal was paired up with Matteo Curious for a schoolproject, and she immediately falls for him hard. She decides to play hard to get, especially as he seems to be very different from her; dorky, smart and a little awkward. With the pressure of her parents wanting to leave, she realizes that she needs to do her best and learn as much as she can to escape from them and hopefully stay with Matteo. The two become friends, and she goes through great effort catching up on knowledge, with great help from Matteo. To not raise suspicion on her parents, she keeps scoring average in school, but starts taking extra courses that will set her up for after graduation.

Matteo and Kendal become extremely close, and Kendal would nothing more to date Matteo. During one night of studying the two kiss, but Matteo does nothing but give a blank stare after that. Ashamed and thinking Matteo hated it, Kendal leaves and avoids Matteo for a while. When Matteo finally comes up to her, he admits that he never expected a pretty girl like her to like him, but that he would love to take her out on a date. Kendal, still thinking he is playing with her refuses and tells him that right now is not a good time.

After graduating high school, Kendal's parents are determined to move away from Strangetown and have arranged for Kendal to get into a college in their hometown. When she admits that she has secretly enrolled in La Fiesta Tech, they are upset but allow her to go. Her parents move back and that's when Kendal cuts all ties with her parents. After completing a few extra courses she moves back to Strangetown and looks for Matteo, hoping to see if he is still wanting to be in a relationship now.

Adulthood[edit | edit source]

Bumping into Matteo was easier than Kendal thought, and the two quickly reconnect. As she tells him how her parents moved out of Strangetown Matteo offers for her to move in with him and some of his other family members, at least till she is settled a bit more. Kendal feels weird about this first, but agrees as it will save her a lot of costs. Thanks to her later school work, she gets a job in the business career. As she has hoped, Matteo is still interested in her and the two quickly start dating. Kendal learns about the strained relationship Matteo has with his brother Yah and father Kade Curious and falls in love with him even more as she sees their similarities in life. She does befriend Yah, as she feels that he is much of a victim of their parents as Matteo, and also hopes that this way the two might be able to get along better. Unfortunately this effort seems unsuccessful.

After some really strong hints on what kind of rings Kendal likes, it doesn't take too long for Matteo to propose. As the two start planning their wedding and look into their finances, Kendal discovers that she got an inheritance from Crystal Curious, who set up a foundation in the home that Kendal was brought before she was adopted and is a distant relative of Matteo. The two get married in a relatively small but gorgeous ceremony. After their wedding night Kendal and Matteo decide to try for a baby.

While trying, Kendal is serious in her career and is determined to set up an empire that would put her family's to a shame. She is successful and smart, deceiving most of the men she is working with into thinking she's all beauty and no brains. It doesn't take long before she is CEO of her firm. It is then that she finds out that she is pregnant, and even though she is worried if this would damage her career, she is incredibly happy to start a family with Matteo. It is hard for her to take some time off as she is getting bigger and bigger and only goes on leave a few weeks before the baby is due. Luckily for her, the baby is unharmed and a healthy girl named Mara is born.

Even though Kendal is happy with her daughter, she feels conflicted on a few aspects in her life. She isn't sure if she should contact her parents and let them know they have become grandparents, especially as how she can see that Matteo's parents are enjoying their grandchildren so much. So is also worried about her career and with times would prefer to immediately go back to work instead of having to take care of Mara. Whenever she thinks this she feels terrible and is worried that she will do the same thing to Mara as to what her parents did to her. Luckily Matteo is there who will keep her feet sturdily on the ground. They agree that she should take some time off work to bond with her daughter, while Matteo will try and create a balance between work and family time. As she is home with Mara most, she teaches her how to walk and talk and starts to realize that family might be a lot more important than career after all.

As Mara grows older, Matteo suggest that they should put her down for private school, a little cautious because of her own application process, Kendal hesitates, but when she learns that the Curious family has gone to that school for ages, she is less worried. As Matteo predicted Mara is accepted and unlike Kendal happily goes to school to learn every day. This leaves Kendal time to go back to work, where she is welcomed back with open arms.

Much to Kendal's surprise, Mara shows interest in her company and would love to have her internship there. Kendal is more than happy to arrange this and show her daughter how the ropes of corporate life works.

Elderhood[edit | edit source]

As Kendal is getting older, she is happy to see that her daughter is handling life very well. She was able to offer Mara a job at her work and is currently fast tracking her to take things over when Kendal will retire. She finally has the strong and powerful family business she always dreamed of, and she never had to force her daughter once! She is happy to see that her daughter is engaged to high school sweet heart Amin Couderc, but also encourages her to keep her independence (and even more importantly, the family and business name Curious). Mara promises her she will and when she gets married it is not Mara but Amin who changes his last name. Kendal knows this pleases Matteo too as they will keep the Curious line going. When Mara announces her pregnancy, Kendal is a bit worried at first as this messes up with her plan of fast tracking Mara, but she promises her that nothing will change to their plan and that this something her and Amin really wanted.

As her grandsons Nolan and Charlie Curious are born, Kendal is ecstatic to be a grandmother. Matteo often teases her, and tells her that she seems a lot crazier about her grandsons than about her daughter at the time. When Matteo dies of old age, Kendal is heart broken, but realizes that the end is unevitable. She makes the final arrangements to hand over the company to Mara, and spends some more time with her daughter and grandsons before passing away of old age as well.
