Klatu Curious was the son of Vidcund Curious and is famous for being the second alien in the Curious family. He is the offspring of Pollination Technician. His alien half brother named Nikto Curious is also his cousin, as he is the offspring of Pollination Technician and the son of Pascal Curious, Klatu's uncle.

His face shares features of Vidcund's, but he has the eyes and skin from his alien father. Later in life he married Marsha Curious and had a son named Drew Curious.

Biography

Although unsure about Pascal's stories at first, Vidcund's interest in the extraterrestrial life peaked when he discovered his brother is growing a little creature. When he saw Pascal and Nervous Subject starting to research Pascal's journey, Vidcund couldn't help himself but start his own. He tried to find the answers in the stars, like he heard his brother talk about, but many nights went by and they were unsuccessful. Things changed when Nervous and Pascal stopped talking and Vidcund could step in. Because of this he gained full access to all Pascal's notes and it did not take long before Vidcund woke up one day outside of his house, not remembering much but flashing lights and shadowy figures. Vidcund happily helped his brother with the last preparations to get this creature out, as he might had to be able to do it himself one day. He helped picking out the name, and not much later Pascal's son Nikto was born. At that same time Vidcund felt kicking in his stomach, and happily shared the news with Pascal. Both of them were excited to not have one, but two research subjects that could revolutionize the world.

Because of this breakthrough, Vidcund rekindled with his high school sweetheart Circe Beaker. He bragged about his findings and showed off his very big belly, as he was about to pop. The two did WooHoo, but Circe voiced her regret as she was married and did not want to cheat on her husband. The two broke off their relationship and Vidcund went into labor. Together with Pascal he named his son Klatu. Different from Nikto, Klatu had tiny black eyes, that seemed like deep pools of darkness.

Babyhood

When Klatu was born, Vidcund was obsessed with him. He stayed with him most of the time, constantly observing him and taking notes about anything Klatu did that might have been out of the ordinary. Vidcund's favorite thing was to put both Klatu and Nikto next to eachother, and see how they would react to one another. Although Pascal's instinct felt more paternal, Vidcund's seemed solely scientific. Vidcund spend a lot of time with the two boys as Pascal spend time with his fiancé Nervous. When his brother Lazlo and wife Crystal had their baby Vidcund tried to add the boy Lucifer to their research, however Lazlo declined and Crystal forbid him to do so. Because of his hard work Vidcund got several promotions, which motivated him even more to make Klatu the best test subject he had ever had.

Toddlerhood

Klatu was an intelligent little boy, but was constantly compared to his older half brother Nikto. Klatu was an extremely fast learner, but Nikto was always a bit faster. Vidcund taught him his toddler skills, which he picked up fast, but Pascal would seem to have success always just a day or so before he would. This slowly started to get to Vidcund, and added up the pressure for Klatu to perform well. It didn't take long before all Vidcund did was work and make sure Klatu was doing his absolute best.

Just a few days before Klatu turned into a child, his aunt Crystal died, he has no memory of the events as he was still too young to remember her.

Childhood

When Klatu finally got the opportunity to go to school and meet other children his age, he faced a whole other dilemma. Even though he was finally one of the smartest kids in school (after his brother of course), he now was made fun of because of how he looks! He had never understood that being green was something special, as there were two of them in his house alone, but he realized quickly that other kids could be very mean. He got a lot closer to Nikto because of this, as he would get bullied too cause of his skin color. He envied his younger cousin Lucifer because of his normal looks, and was often mean to him even though Lucifer would always stand up for his cousins. Vidcund did not want to deal with the distraction of the bullies, and wanted Klatu to be able to focus on his studies, so he convinced Pascal to put the boys in private school. Lazlo decides not much later to transfer Lucifer to the same school as well. Klatu was happy when he finally gets his A+, instead of an A, as he finally could show his dad that he is just as smart as his brother.

Teenhood

Still struggling with the fact that he needs to be the smartest, Klatu chooses the knowledge aspiration, to please his father. It made studying a little easier and keeps his good grades up. Together with his brother Nikto and cousin Lucifer he was determined to become one of those "cool intelligent kids" in school. Him and his brother meet classmate Marsha Loner and Klatu immediately got a crush on her. He was devastated when he heard Nikto had a date with her and even more when he heard they kissed. It was not long after that Nikto muttered something about Marsha not actually liking him and preferring to go out with Klatu instead. Klatu is over the moon and immediately goes on a date with her. They share their first kiss together and not long after that the two go steady. Still worried about his father's approval, Klatu hides his relationship with Marsha and makes up for his losses by studying at night. It becomes a little easier to fool his dad as he is turning into an elder and falls asleep much faster than before.

Adulthood

After graduating high school, Klatu decides he wants to become a chief of staff in the medical field, to much approval of his father. However, as career driven as Klatu is, his girlfriend Marsha gets impatient and insist that the two move forward with their relationship, or at least move in together. Not really wanting to move out from his childhood home, Klatu suggests that she moves in with them. Marsha is not excited about this at first but eventually agrees. The two argue a lot about the future of their relationship, as Marsha would like to get married and start a family, while Klatu is not sure about kids and much rather focuses on his career.

Klatu is thrilled to learn that Nikto is not getting into a academic career, and chose a life in the arts instead, finally making him the most intelligent Curious brother. He however is slightly jealous of Nikto's obviously more relaxed life style, as well as the peaceful relationship between him and his partner River Curious. This strain only gets worse when he learns that Marsha got pregnant and he decides to propose to her.

Around this time the older generation, consisting if Pascal, Lazlo and Vidcund, decide it is time to pack their bags and leave the house to the three cousins and their families. Klatu, never having lived without doing things to impress is father, is taken back at this at first. But slowly he realizes how much more freedom he has without his father. Marsha and Klatu have a quick wedding and just after that their son Drew Curious is born. Although he never expressed this to Marsha, Klatu did fear for their son to be an alien-looking Sim and would often joke to his brother Nikto how he and River never had to worry about making any more alien babies. But Drew was born as a normal looking Sim, with the same skin and eye color as his mother.

Not really wanting to be involved with either Drew or his wife Marsha, Klatu started to focus on his career and earned himself several promotions, comparing himself to his father with every promotion he got. He got so involved in his work that he missed most of Drew's toddlerhood, and notably did not teach him any of his toddler skills. At some point Klatu got so distant from his family that he missed Nikto's engagement to River and almost missed their wedding. He was horrified to learn that somehow River got impregnated like his father was and that Nikto and River were expecting their first child. Marsha, at some point being fed up with Klatu's absence, demands they move to their own place as she thinks the size of their current household might be the reason Klatu is so distant. She also opts for possibly having a second baby. Klatu agrees to move out in order to calm Marsha down, but refuses to try for a second baby much to her disappointment. Klatu, Marsha and Drew leave the Curious household.

Klatu's father Vidcund passed away of old age when Drew turned in to a teenager, and just before Klatu turned an elder himself. In order to deal with this loss Klatu threw himself in his work even more, reaching the top of his career and fulfilling his lifetime want.

Elderhood

Getting older, Klatu gets more annoyed and disappointed in his wife Marsha and son Drew. Marsha, still hoping that some more free time will turn Klatu's mood around, suggests that it might be time to retire from his job, but Klatu refuses. He mentions that his father Vidcund worked till the day he died, and so will he. Klatu keeps nagging Drew about his lack of ambition, and calling him a failure multiple times, which makes Drew move out from his parents house back together with his cousins Sarah and Kade. Marsha, heartbroken by her only child leaving the house, invites her brothers-in-law Nikto and River to move in with them and they accept. When Lucifer and his wife Tessa hear about this, they suggest moving in as well, to contribute to the house and to give their children some more freedom. Klatu is not too thrilled about this all, but hopes that this will get Marsha of his back.

Klatu's relationship has been so estranged, that he only gets updates from Marsha, when she goes and see him. It is through one of these visits that he learns that Drew is engaged to the maid Genesis, who has been with the Curious household for generations. He is happy for Marsha, as he sees in her a light that he hasn't seen in years, and is happy for her that she will be a grandparent as the two are expecting. He is not surprised that the two are unmarried and expecting, as he expect this of Drew's "failure" of a lifestyle. Preparations of a wedding were made, but then one day Klatu sees Marsha's face becoming white as paper while on the phone. She tells him that Genesis went into labor prematurely, and their first granddaughter True didn't make it. This had a great effect on Marsha's health, which worried Klatu greatly and probably brought them closer together since years. Klatu felt so much anger towards Drew as he could not even get a child right, and now potentially will lose his wife over it. Marsha dies shortly after.

Although Klatu breaks all (very little) contact with his son Drew, he hears through his family - mostly Nikto and his children when they visit- about Drew's wife Aiyana and their twin daughters Ana and Emma Curious. He never met either of them before dying of old age. He left nothing to his family and donated his funds and possesions to science.

Trivia

• Klatu felt like Marsha forced him into marriage, and would have probably never married her if she didn't insist. However he did really love her.
• The meaning of the name Klatu is highly debated, I found it randomly on a website, but recently found out it was actually a line in The Day the Earth Stood Still mentioning both Kla(a)tu and his brother Nikto.
