Early Life

Lily is the second daughter of Reed Rose. She was an extraordinarily quiet child, a trait which she has maintained into adulthood. Despite this, she demonstrated a natural empathy for others as she would always find anyone who was upset and attempt to play with them. Her grandfather, Oak, put her forward to train as the next Nurturer, an opportunity she gladly accepted.

In the time period covered in A Garden of Roses, Lily is shown to be an unassuming member of the colony, but one harbouring a succession of unusual secrets, the first being her feelings towards Larch. With romantic attraction all but bred out of PlantSims, it was difficult for her to find a way of expressing herself, so she took to leaving small tokens in his favourite hiding places whenever he had a rough day, and covering up some of his mistakes. Meanwhile, she also began to tutor her sister in preparation for the spawning of a new PlantBaby.

After a while, Lily caught Larch alone in the spring and took the opportunity to offer some comfort and to get closer to her beloved. Although she was undoubtedly successful, both lacked a true understanding of their emotions and actions, which led to some surprising consequences for Lily. Awaking in the early hours of the morning, she was already aware of the changes stirring within her and fled the spring while Larch slept. For the next few days she quarantined herself in her father's cabin, under the pretence of having caught a blight, as it became apparent she had fallen pregnant with Larch's child. When she revealed their predicament to him, Lily confessed that she loved Larch, and was devastated to discover that he didn't reciprocate and was instead merely intent on provoking the elders. Although this was a traumatic time for Lily, it did mark the beginning of a growth in confidence as she realised she may have to look after herself for the duration of her pregnancy.

Despite arousing a certain amount of suspicion from the elders, Lily managed to conceal her condition for the rest of her term. She has maintained that the night of her daughter's birth was 'the most frightening and beautiful experience a person could hope to have'. The birth was also significant for Lily's relationships. Despite ongoing emotional complications, it cemented a connection between her Larch. It also triggered something of rift between her and her sister, as for practical reasons it meant that Holly was no longer able to spawn a child.

For a few days, all seemed well for Lily and her family, until she, Larch and Cherry found themselves confronted with an unexpected consequence: three predators from the world of flesh-beings...
