Marigold Dortheimer is a member of the wealthy and dreaded Dortheimer Legacy. She is part of the sixth generation of the family, and is arguably so far, along with her very distant relative Pâquerette Dortheimer, one of the cruellest, meanest member of the legacy.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Marigold Dortheimer was born in Sunset Valley to Matthias Desfarges, son of two rich politicians, and to Umbriel Dortheimer, heiress of an evil and greedy family. Her grandmother Astrid was a criminal genius who caused havoc on town.

She always hated her two brothers who were really nice unlike the others members of the family. She also was enemies with her own father, and she couldn't care less when her brother Matthieu drowned in the ocean as a child. Then she continuously bullied her other brother Valentin without punishment (her mother, grandmother and aunt despised good people, Valentin included). That was why Valentin feared his family more than he feared the Grim Reaper himself.

Marigold grew into a beautiful teen and began to attend to her family's nasty business, beginning with some thieveries. She also developped a great ability in Inventing and began to build various and complicated gimmicks, like a time machine. At the same time, Umbriel and Astrid thought about eliminating Matthias and his mother Josette in order to inherit his money. Josette died naturally, but Matthias had to be murdered. The entire family thought about a plan to ice him and Umbriel pushed him in a high-voltage cab. The police thought it was an accident. The Dortheimers then inherited his money. However, Valentin knew that his father's death was not accidental, but he was too scared to talk.

But Ilona died, and Astrid was distraught about it, and Valentin, who realized that his grandmother was weakened, told the authorities about her past crimes. She ended up arrested and died in jail. Marigold and Umbriel held a terrible grudge on him, but they decided to wait before killing him painfully.

Marigold grew into and adult just after Valentin's wedding. He marreid a young woman named Nadine and the latter got pregnant. Marigold decided to become self-employed and used her amazing inventing skill in order to earn money. Her career was very successful as her productions were very rare and consequently very expensive. During this time, Nadine gave birth to Alexandre.

Umbriel died of old age, and Marigold decided it was time to avenge her grandmother. She used her great chemical knowledge acquired by developing her inventing skills in order to create an undetectable poison that put people in a near-hypnotic state and make them obey to every single order, just like some robots. Then Marigold simply asked Valentin to jump out of the attic window. The police naturally conclued to a suicide.

She used her prettiness and charms in order to trick an aristocratic guy called Benoît Carnavalet into marrying her. She got pregnant and quickly set up a trap to get rid of him since she saw him as nothing more than a way to earn more and more money. She placed some explosives in the garage and locked Benoît in it. The small explosion created a massive fire that burnt the garage, killing Benoît and also Nadine who was next to the small building.

However, Marigold quickly found out that she had done a mistake. The child was a boy, Joël. Marigold strongly disliked boys and had no other choice than to resurrect her husband (she didn't want to seduce another guy at all. Despite being cruel and calculating, the Dortheimers have somehow a strong sense of family: almost none of them married two different people). She tried to have some kid in the future. The child was effectively a girl, Léna, but when she came back, she was already an elder and therefore couldn't have kids. The last try resulted in Rénata who this time was a fiery ghost baby. She then sent back Benoît into his grave and placed it in the mausoleum, so his ghost wouldn't disturb her anymore.

She continued in her grandmother footsteps and was dreaded by the entire Sunset Valley. She used her various inventions to rob, steal and, once, to kill: a dimwitted robber broked into her manor, and Marigold's surveillance robot automatically electrocuted him.

The most memorable thing she did with her machinery was to embezzle mountainous amounts of money directly from the banks by hacking dozens of codes and creating an economical disaster in SimNation: banks had only a very few Simoleon left and the national stock exchange went on a huge crash. However, investigators realized that the hacker was in Sunset Valley, and Marigold did not predict that they could localize her that quickly, so she hid the machine at her nemesis and businesswoman Goldie Silverstone, and Goldie got arrested instead of Marigold. However, Marigold was forced to transfer all the money at Goldie's account in order to inculpate her and she lost everything she had stolen. However, she still was very wealthy.

Marigold finally met her end when her youngest daughter discovered a passion for travelling. She came back from Egpypt with a magnificent sarcophagus, who had however caused misfortune: Alexandre, Marigold's nephew, was turned into a mummy, but worse, Marigold was cursed by the mummy, and didn't find anything to cure it, and she perished two weeks later. No one except Rénata mourned her as nearly everybody considered her as a gruesome, vile nuisance (and this description matches her perfectly).
