Martin Appoell is the first and only child of Vamsi and Paladin Appoell. Descendant of the Ideal plantsim, grandson of Victoria Appoell.
A warlock, a famous chef, a child prodigy. And last but not least a great husband and a wonderful father.

Life in Riverblossom Hills

The Grandmother

Martin was born in Riverblossom Hills into a wealthy family. His grandmother, Victoria was the local sensation. She gave birth to quintuplets – twice! This event attracted people - the press and the public as well.

9 children out of the 10 left their mother after they graduated. Only Paladin stayed with Victoria, with his soon-to-be wife, Vamsi.

Vamsi was pregnant, but so was Victoria! I haven’t mentioned the father of Paladin, nor the husband of Victoria, have I? I might have left some tiny information out: Victoria was a plantsim. So practically her quintuplets are not quintuplets after all. She just gave birth to 5 plantsim babies. One after the other. And when they grew up and left their mother she became lonely and then decided to have more children. 5 more babies.

But years later she became a normal person again and this time she was pregnant for real. She was expecting Gabe O’Mackey’s child. But that’s another story, stick to this one.
Paladin and Vamsi got married. Few months after the wedding little Martin joined the family and soon his uncle, Andrew followed him.

Prodigy

Martin was everybody’s favourite, the most popular kid at school. He was nice, funny and the smartest little fellow in the whole neighbourhood. He was learning all the time – not precisely from books.
He was looking at everything from a different angle. He found even the smallest things fascinating. He could just sit in one spot the whole day and just think, observe the world little by little, piece by piece.

You might think: how could this kid become popular? Sitting by himself all day long. Not talking to anyone. Well, I did not say that. The others were actually looking for his company. They wanted to become as clever as he is. He told them stories, mainly his own theories and fairytales which were instructive not just entertaining.
And no, he did not cast a spell on them, he wasn’t a warlock back then. He was just extremely charismatic from the very beginning.

Tragedy

When he was 15 his parents died in an accident. Grandma Victoria decided to leave town with her son, and grandson. The boys agreed.
They moved to Sunstonetown to forget the bitterness, to leave behind their sorrow.

Life in Sunstonetown

Calypso

New town, new school, new people. For the first time Martin felt lonely. But he didn’t want to lose anybody anymore, so his solution was not having friends.
He tried to keep distance from the other students. But his plan didn’t turn out the way he wanted.
Everyone thought he is mysterious, and tried to get to know him. He met a really pushy yet adorable girl, named Calypso, who asked for his help to solve her problem.

’I’m not an advisor.’
’Okay, but I trust you! Can you help me? Please! Pretty please!’
’Why do you trust me?’
’I don’t know. I can’t explain. I just do. So?’
’Fine. What’s bothering you?’
’Well, you see, there is this boy I like, but he doesn’t know I exist. He had, I don’t know, for about 100 girlfriends so far. He is now dating this Wendy chick, red hair, perfect smile, every guy is in love with her.’
’Oh, yeah, she is nice.’
’Great. You too!’
’I too what?’
’Maybe you can get together with her after their break up. So anyway: there is another guy, who is madly in love with me. He is handsome, but you know, not really my type. He is Murdock’s cousin by the way.’
’Murdock is the one you like I assume.’
’Yes.’
’That’s his first or his last name?’
’Last. First. I don’t know.’
’Wow. Very informative. What do you know about him?’
’He is blonde, has beautiful blue eyes. And he is hot.’
’Must be true love…’

A quick summary about what happened after their conversation:

First of all Calypso started dating Murdock’s cousin. She was using him to get closer to Murdock because Martin gave this advice to her hoping she won't disturb him again.
Then Murdock’s cousin cheated on Calypso with a girl named Gloria. Calypso didn't really care but Martin was furious at the guy.
Afterwards Calypso and Murdock became a couple, thanks to Martin. Meanwhile, Martin and Calypso became really close friends. More than friends but they had no idea.
Finally Murdock found out how Martin felt for Calypso and how the feeling was mutual so he step aside. But Calypso misunderstood Murdock and thought he is breaking up with her because Martin told him to out of malice. It was prom night…

'I'm an idiot!'

Calypso refused to talk to anyone especially to Martin, but he was persistent. After a huge fight they finally realized how they felt for each other. They arrived at the prom together, they were in spotlight that night, the main topic of conversation.

The girl thought she loved this Murdock kid, but she was just in love with the fact of being in love. And Martin was the most intelligent in town, but this area wasn’t his speciality. He was helping the love of his life so she could be someone else’s girlfriend. No comment. But never mind. All’s well that ends well.

Troublemakers

College years were eventful for our love birds. Martin and Calypso were sharing an apartment and enjoyed every second they spent on the campus. Well, maybe not every single one...

There were 3 girls, center of attention, caused trouble by just entering the room. They picked a random person and made their life miserable. And their next target was Calypso and Martin. They hated how happy these two were so they wanted to destroy their relationship.

Two out of the three girls just wanted to have fun, but the third girl wanted revenge. A red-headed girl. Wendy. Remember her? The one who was dating Murdock, Calypso’s ex? Who broke up with Wendy, just to be with Calypso? At least she thought he did.

They were spreading rumors all around the campus about Wendy’s and Martin’s secret relationship. But people didn’t believe them and just told Martin about it. He had the talk with the troublemakers, recognized Wendy and everything was clear to him.
Calypso never found out what happened. The girls harmed no one ever since. That’s the Martin-effect.

Miracle

Martin was a completely normal person one day and the other: a warlock. How did this happen? Honestly I don’t remember. But I wasn’t going to tell that story anyway.
Martin and Calypso got married. He had a nice job, big house. And Calypso was pregnant with their first child, with their daughter. They wanted to name her after Martin’s grandmother, but she was against it. She humorously said:

“

’Oh, no you won’t. You can’t put two Victorias under the same roof at the same time. It will destroy the universe.’

”

But then they found the perfect name for the little Appoell girl: Marvel. At least they thought it's the best.

’That’s a comic book or something.’
’Come on Grandma! Nothing is good enough for you. Give us a name then!’
’I’m just telling you that I had to name 11 children. I wanted them to have unique names, so they can be special. I named one of them Hyacinth. And he hated it.’
’Dad loved his name.’
’He was the only one I haven’t named after a plant.’
’And Andrew?’
’I’ve learnt from my mistakes after 10 brats.’
’So what do you suggest?’
’You will know, Marty. If you look at your daughter and the nurse asks for her name you will choose the right one. But don't you dare name her after me, nor your wife. I'm sorry cupcake, she is lovely but Calypso! You can tell she comes from a big family. Probably every other name was taken.’

She was right. When Martin saw his daughter’s little face for the first time, she looked at Calypso and they knew they are thinking the same. How? They just did. A miracle happened. Hannah. Welcome to the family!

• He had 47 best friends in The Sims 2 (which means he completed at least 2 Lifetime Wants).
• He also has 47 friends in The Sims 3.
• He mastered all 7 skills while he was a teen.
• His hobby was Music and Dance in TS2.
• He was studying Philosophy at Sim State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
