Maryann and her twin brother Roger were born to parents Emilia and Kai Barrow. Roger and Maryann are the only Dee children who know who his/her parents are. Emilia and Kai gave Roger and Maryann up because they went broke. Emilia and Kai were vampires, and both Maryann and Roger did not inherit the life state. Emilia and Kai eventually became very rich, and had another son named Charlie Barrow.
Maryann grew up badly, and began rebelling against her father by doing various things, such as sneaking out with Sammy, who Maryann had started dating. Peter then died, and Maryann was very affected by it and stopped rebelling. Maryann was then very happy and wore bright colours, rather than goth outfits. One day, after Peter's death, Maryann was watching the stars, when The Leader of the Pack came along, and bit Maryann, transforming her into a werewolf. Every night, Maryann goes to Sammy's house and sleeps there, to hide her powers from her family. Maryann and Sammy are stil dating, and Sammy gets along with Maryann's family, and Maryann with Sammy's. Maryann has earned four A+ report cards, two A report cards, one A-, one B+, no B's, four B-, one C+, five D's and one D-. Maryann hates her werewolf powers and swears to get rid of them someday.
