Ruby Lomax was born in 2000 to Kirsty-Leigh and Cameron Mambel. Kirsty-Leigh did not want the responsibility of being a single, teenage mother, and so she passed the responsibility onto her mother, Ruby's grandmother, Lizzie Lomax and her husband, Stephan Lomax.
When the Lomax's decided to leave the village they were staying in, Kirsty-Leigh decided she didn't want to hide it anymore now that she was an adult. And as they were getting in the car, Kirsty-Leigh told Ruby. Lizzie and Stephan were horrified and got in the car.
In the car, while driving out their rage, Lizzie and Stephan encountered a collision between a white van which had been taken from Kirsty-Leigh's boyfriend's, Fab, Garage. Ruby and her family were distraught by this.
Ruby met Ellis Cunningham at their school, and were instantly attracted to each other. Ruby and Ellis were asked to perform in a school production, where they both missed most rehearsals to be together. The two kissed at New Year's, where the two slept together. Resulting in Ruby becoming pregnant at age 15.
At age 15, Ruby gave birth Stephanie-Lee Cunningham-Lomax. This gave Ruby a large amount of time off her school timetable, meaning her work deteriorated. Ruby soon received a severe case of post-natal depression, in which she nearly began to neglect her newborn daughter. Ruby realised she, like her mother, could no longer support her daughter and sent her to live with her father.
