Help:Creating a new page
It is easy to create a new page on The Sims Wiki. Anyone who can edit an existing page can also create a new one as well! Creating a new page is one of the many ways the wiki grows in size and usefulness.
How do I create a new page?[edit source]
Before you create a new page, first check to see if the wiki already has a page on the same topic. You can do this by typing in the name of the page you want to create in the search box below, and then click on "Try exact match". If you don't find anything, try clicking on "Search full text" to see if the stuff you want to write about is already mentioned in another page.
If it doesn't seem like the page you want to create exists yet, why not be the one to start it? There are multiple ways to create a new page on The Sims Wiki.
Method 1: Use the text box below[edit source]
You can create a new page by typing in the title of the page you want to create below. Your title should be the name of the subject you are writing about, so it shouldn't be too long. Please note that page titles are case sensitive except for the very first letter.
Type in the contents of your page. Once you're done, click on the 'Publish page' button. Your new page will be live immediately!
Method 2: Follow a red link[edit source]
You can create a new page if you click on a link to it. When you link to a page that already exists, that link will be blue, like this. If the page does not exist, the link will be red, like this.
If you click on a red link, you'll be taken directly to the edit window, where you'll be able to create the page. Type in the contents of your page. Once you're done, click on the 'Publish page' button. Your new page will be live immediately!
Method 3: Go to the URL of the page[edit source]
URLs on The Sims Wiki begin with https://www.thesimswiki.com/wiki/. The URL for the page The Sims 2, for example, is https://www.thesimswiki.com/wiki/The_Sims_2. If you wanted to create a new page, simply go to your browser's address bar, type in https://www.thesimswiki.com/wiki/, and then type in the name of the page you want to create. Hit ⌅ Enter, then click on the 'Create source' button at the top.
Type in the contents of your page. Once you're done, click on the 'Publish page' button. Your new page will be live immediately!
