| Rumor says the Nishidake family are sacred guardians of Mt. Komorebi. Indeed, Shigeru fumes over the Ito family’s local development plans. Sachiko, however, feels warmly toward Megumi due to an old friendship with the young woman’s mom. Plus, she knows what’s in her granddaughter’s heart… Kaori moved to Mt. Nishidake: Possibly from the Japanese words "nishi" (西) meaning "west" and "dake" (だけ) meaning "only".
Shigeru: From the Japanese word "shigeru" (茂) meaning "lush" or "luxuriant".
Sachiko: From the Japanese words "sachi" (幸) meaning "happiness" or "good luck" and "ko" (子) meaning "child".
Kaori: Mainly from the Japanese word "kaori" (香) meaning "fragrance".
