Picnic baskets are introduced in Hot Date, but they are not portable. Sims can rent them from kiosks in Downtown for §99. After renting, they will pick the closest empty 3x3 spot to set up a picnic blanket.

The Sims 3[edit | edit source]

Picnic baskets are a portable group activity object in The Sims 3. They have a hunger rating of 4, and Sims can only eat from them if it's been opened, with a checkered blanket underneath.

Picnic baskets can be found in Sunset Valley's big central park, unless The Sims 3: Seasons is installed, where the park is instead replaced with festival grounds.

Picnic baskets return in The Sims 4: Cottage Living, functioning similarly to lunch bags from The Sims 4: Parenthood. Various types of food can be packed into a basket and stored in a Sim's inventory, including both purchased food and homemade food. It can then be placed on any picnic table, allowing Sims to gather around and eat from it.
