Shelby Thayer is one of the pre-made NPC carpool drivers who resides in Bitville, one of the neighborhoods shipped with The Sims Life Stories. The other five carpool drivers are Erin Despret, Shea McClellan, Kaylynn Kosmokos, Houston Goss, and Ian Tan. Like all carpool drivers, he can't be made playable without cheats. Shelby has short brown hair, green eyes, and medium skin. He is a Knowledge Sim with the Pisces zodiac sign. As far as personality, Shelby is extremely playful and quite nice. But he is very sloppy and shy, and somewhat lazy.

When it comes to Shelby's skill points, he has maximized the charisma skill, and is well on the way towards maximizing the cooking and creativity skills. He is mostly interested in Environment, Travel, and Work. Shelby has the same facial structure as Brian Seavey. He can easily be cloned in Create a Sim with debugging mode on. Shelby's turn ons/offs are randomized at the start of the game. It is only referenced in the game files that he has no turn ons/offs.
