Snowman

A snowman in The Sims 2: Seasons

A snowman or snowpal[TS4:S] is a buildable object Sims can create during the winter if the snow cover is deep enough in The Sims: Vacation, The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 3: Seasons and The Sims 4: Seasons. It is also featured as a buyable, player-constructed object in The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack and The Sims 4: Holiday Celebration Pack.

The Sims: Vacation[edit | edit source]

In The Sims: Vacation, Sims can rent a snowman kit to build snowmen on winter-themed lots on Vacation Island. Once the kit is rented, the Sim who rented it will go somewhere on the lot and begin building a snowman, but the player has no control over where the Sim will go. Sims with higher creativity skill build better snowmen.

The player can direct other family members to join the activity, in which case the renter's creativity skill seems to control the quality of the snowman. If a child joins in, one of the adults building the snowman will often hold the child so he or she can add the final touches.

The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff[edit | edit source]

In The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack (and by extension, The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff, three decorative spherical snowballs can be purchased from buy mode and stacked on top of each other to build a snowman. These snowballs come with snowmen accessories attached to them and can be built at any time of the year. Snowmen built in this way will last indefinitely.

The Sims 2: Seasons[edit | edit source]

In The Sims 2: Seasons, Sims are able to make snowmen if deep snow is on the ground, and they may do so autonomously. Other Sims can join the activity. Making a snowman can be interrupted, though the Sim will not stop immediately. Sims can resume making a partly finished snowman, as long as deep snow is still on the ground.

Snowmen reflect the personality of the Sim that creates them, but not extensively, as they can only be good or evil. Sims have limited interaction with completed snowmen, but penguins may occasionally appear on the lot and talk to the snowmen. Snowmen will begin to melt if the outdoor temperature gets warm enough or there is no snow left on the ground. Sims can "Knock over" snowmen, which may cause distress to other Sims in the area.

The Sims 3: Seasons[edit | edit source]

Sims can build snowmen when the snow is deep enough in winter. Sims can build alone or together with another Sim. There are six types of snowmen that Sims can discover. Once the Sim discovers a type, players can order the Sim to build a snowman they've already learned or a random snowman. There's a 50% chance that Sims will discover a new type of snowman when building one.

Picture Name Requirements for increased chance to discover a type
Classic All Sims
Evil Daredevil, Evil, Mean Spirited, Hot-Headed, or Pyromaniac
Tragic Clown Grumpy, Hates the Outdoors, or Sims with -40 mood or lower
Hockey Athletic, Loves the Outdoors, or having an ice skating rink on the lot
Grim Reaper Unlucky, Evil, having a gravestone on the lot / inventory, working as a Mausoleum Clerk, or elder Sims
Alien Insane, Computer Whiz, or Aliens

Snowmen will begin to melt when the temperature warms up. Sims can destroy snowmen, but if they destroy someone else's snowman, there's a chance they'll start a fight with each other. Sims can autonomously build snowmen, but will not build another if there are four snowmen already on a lot.

The Sims 4: Holiday Celebration Pack[edit | edit source]

The Sims 4: Holiday Celebration Pack adds two snowmen in the form of buyable decoration that do not require snow to make.

The Sims 4: Seasons[edit | edit source]

A "Gloman" with and without snow on top.[1]

Snowmen return in the form of snowpals in The Sims 4: Seasons. As in previous games, snowpals can only be made in the snow, but as The Sims 4 does not feature different densities of snow, Sims can make them whenever there is snow on the ground.

Snowpals can be made by a Sim alone or together with another Sim. They can also continue building a snowpal that they already began making or destroy it.

Once a snowpal is finished, it will come in one of a total of fifteen different variants. This is random and is not influenced by the traits or the mood of a Sim.

Following interactions are available with a snowpal:

  • Declare as Ultimate Snowpal! (Children only)
  • Destroy
  • Rebuild Ultimate Snowpal (Children only)
  • Rename
  • Interactions depending on mood (Toddlers and children only):

Toddlers and children can build a relationship with snowpals, which will be reflected in their relationship panel. When they max out this relationship, the "Declare as Ultimate Snowpal!" interaction becomes available for children, which allows them to recreate the exact same snowpal later in the future.

If The Sims 4: Parenthood is installed, toddlers, children and teens can get encouraged, get yelled at or get grounded for destroying snowpals.
