Beta name?

Today I decided to install The Sims Life Stories again on my computer, in the disk I found a piece of paper that announced that The Sims Pet Stories and The Sims Castaway Stories were coming soon. This is very old of course, because when I bought the disk the 2 game weren't there. But the description that announced The Sims Pet Stories gave another name other than Alice. Might that be her beta name when the game was in their last stages of development? Also, I don't know if this is in fact also true for the English version of the TSL disk.
