[edit source]

It is mentioned in the article that in Sims 3 a playable Sim can become a burglar. How exactly? Through the criminal career path? and can you then go to other Sims' houses and rob them?—Preceding unsigned comment added by (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

Answer for above: What I do is make a Kleptomaniac sim and teleport into the victims house—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sims3gamer (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

Sims 2 Outdoor Alarm[edit source]

In The Sims 2, burglar alarms cannot be placed outside (except with the move_objects cheat), so each room with a door to the outside should have an alarm.

Now, I can't test this, but I wonder if there's this exception to the rule. If you built walls around the outside of the house in some way, added an alarm to one wall (interior, of course), and them removed all other walls, would the alarm be active and working?
If so, then move_objects isn't the only way to do this, and the statement should be changed.

Perhaps word it so that it says ("except with the move_objects cheat or by tricking the game)" LostInRiverview 03:02, January 1, 2010 (UTC)
Alright, I verified that, indeed, you can place a burglar alarm outside in the manner in which you described. I'll incorporate my suggested wording into the parenthetical, and you or someone else can change it if you find more desirable wording. LostInRiverview 07:09, January 1, 2010 (UTC)
Using the move_objects on cheat to place a burglar alarm on the wall next to the doorbell is loads of fun because it goes off the second the burglar appears, so it gives them no time to steal anything. I like how the alarm can tell the difference between a regular Sim or burglar who isn't stealing, and a burglar who is there to steal. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:48, January 15, 2014 (UTC)
The alarm is even smarter than the butler, if you ask me. Nikel Talk Vote! 04:42, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
What is that supposed to mean? I've got a pretty good idea but just in case I'm wrong. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:51, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
The butler will persistently call the police if a burglar visits by. Visits by, as in visiting friend. Nikel Talk Vote! 18:07, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
Yet another fail on the developer's end, I guess. "Hey Butler! I want you to meet my friend, Russ Bear!" Butler: "OMFG! It's a burglar!!! *calls the police*". Police show up: "I'm fining you 500 simoleans for calling when there's no emergency!" Thanks a lot, butler. You are dismissed - and don't ever come back! K6ka (talk | contrib) 18:17, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
Oh no! You just reminded me of how persistent the butler is when there's a fire from a lightning strike during a heavy rain... The butler calls and the fire department fines my Sims. Nikel Talk Vote! 18:43, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
Wasn't that sort of fixed in the Apartment Life patch? Or was it re-broken in M&G? In which case, thank God I never bothered with a butler because I found a Servo far more useful (and loyal). K6ka (talk | contribs) 18:54, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
I don't recall, but I think they're still persistent. I just wish a service Servo didn't have to be controllable. I prefer Bonehilda. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:47, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

When the police and burglar can't fight[edit source]

I've only seen this happen once, when the burglar walked past an alarmed car while entering the lot and was on a small porch when the police arrived. The burglar hadn't been able to steal anything, so I don't know what would happen if this situation arose after something had been stolen. Dharden (talk) 02:58, January 13, 2013 (UTC)

Sims need room to fight, unlike in reality, where you can pretty much fight anywhere (with added bruises and broken bones). I'm guessing that since the cop and burglar were stuck on a small porch, the two couldn't really fight and just complained about route failure. It would've been nicer if the cop could WWE-throw the burglar off the porch and right into the cop car. K6ka (talk | contrib) 18:22, January 25, 2014 (UTC)

Ignore traversal costs[edit source]

I was browsing the package files and I found that all the burglars (including the ones I'd made playable) have the box Ignore traversal costs ticked. What does that do? Is that what enables them to sneak and stuff? ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:48, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

While this comment is well and truly dead, I must say that it does indeed enable them to sneak, but I'm not sure if it has any other purpose. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:09, March 27, 2016 (UTC)

Stealin'[edit source]

Once I laid out a whole heap of expensive treasures for Jessica Ebadi to steal. But all she stole was a teddy bear LOL! ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:48, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

All she wanted was a teddy bear for her squealing baby! K6ka (talk | contrib) 18:22, January 25, 2014 (UTC)
As you know, she doesn't have a baby. That was still a funny comment :) ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:52, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

What Traits Needed[edit source]

What traits are needed to fight a burglar when one comes and steals from your house? I had one steal from my house a couple of times, and each time I try to fight them, it keeps showing the No Interactions thing each time I click on the burglar, what traits are needed besides Brave? Are other traits needed such as mean spirit or something? I really need to kick a bunch of burglar's hides when they rob my sims, but can't since no intereactions keeps popping up when I click on them. Nikolai Banks (talk) 21:32, January 23, 2015 (UTC)

No Burglars in Sims 4?[edit source]

I wonder why there are no Burglars in Sims 4? I mean, they are one of the most recurring NPCs in Sim games. (talk) 09:34, October 6, 2015 (UTC)
