Please Help.[edit source]

In my game, when my sims have children, when before children, the father was on the left and the mother on the right, they switch places. This is very annoying as I am trying to have a Patriarchal family.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Actually you had better ask your question in the Central Park. There is actually no big deal whether who is on which side. The father is not necessarily always in the same place. They could always switch position with the spouse. There's a tool that might be able to help, but it's much more difficult than seeing your Sim's place switched. I fixed it, you just have to force the father to carry the child and the father is still on the left hand side. Easy.

The family tree button isnt working. I click it and nothing happens. :C I have no mods, no expansions, just plain old Sims 3 (with latest updates, most likely!) any fix? Is this just a patch glitch? Should the page be updated?71.197.136.159 (talk) 07:29, January 27, 2013 (UTC)

What patch are you on? Specifically, not working how? Nikel Talk Vote! 18:17, January 28, 2013 (UTC)

Unwanted branch of the tree[edit source]

Is there a way to remove a person as a relative on the family three? One of my sims on sims 3 was dating somebody who i didnt want them to date (im sure im not alone in that problem) and my sim adopted a child and broke up with there GF. the GF is on the family tree marked as the mother to the child and it bugs me.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 00:56, March 10, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but if there's no gameplay-wise method to remove her from the tree, the alternative is to use a mod, like Twallan's Master Controller. Nikel Talk Vote! 16:40, March 11, 2013 (UTC)

Greyed out deceased sims[edit source]

This has been happening for a while, and I don't know if it is natural in the Sims 3 for everyone.

When I first play Sunset Valley, and look up the family trees of those who have deceased ancestors, the images of the deceased will be greyed out, just as it is stated in this page. However, once the ghost of a deceased appears, at a graveyard or at an active house, the image will change and the deceased sim will NOT be greyed out, but instead appear as a ghost, all white. Is this the same for everyone, or is this unusual, since it goes against what this page is saying.Kajune (talk) 05:17, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Maximum number on tree?[edit source]

Do we know if there is a limit to how many Sims can appear on any one family tree? I tried to see how many kids one Sim could have by loads of men and she's had fifty-one, and after a while I found I could not see the full tree for her, her kids, or her grandkids, and now it won't load for almost anyone in her family (I think I broke it lol) and I didn't know this would happen. Any ideas? Hmjb1993 (talk) 23:25, August 17, 2013 (UTC)

Comfirmation[edit source]

"Ghosts are visible on these family trees, and they are all gray for the most part. When the ghosts appear in-game, however, the color of their spirit will reflect the manner of their death." For the Sims 4, is there any confirmation for this? Usually for me, my ghosts' icons keep changing color. I'm confused... IsaiahScribblenauts Disscuss - My Fanon 17:26, May 6, 2018 (UTC)

If a Sim dies on another lot, their icon will be grey. If you meet them in game somewhere, their icon shares the same color with their emotional sate. However, if a Sim dies on the active lot, the color of their family tree icon stays as the same color as their emotions color, when they died. For example, if a Sim died while being sad, their family tree icon will always stay as blue, which is the color of the sad emotion. - SimDestroyer (talk) 17:58, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
So what your saying is that what mood they were in on their death replaces their Fine mood so they can't be fine? IsaiahScribblenauts Disscuss - My Fanon 18:03, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
No, the ghosts can have all of the emotions like a normal Sim. It is the family tree icon that won't change color, despite the current emotion of the ghost. - SimDestroyer (talk) 18:08, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
Oh, ok. Thanks. IsaiahScribblenauts Disscuss - My Fanon 18:09, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
