Viewable objects in The Sims 2[edit source]

Is it just me, or does Viewing objects in TS2 give an inordinately large Fun boost?  As we all know, college Sims writing term papers suffer a pretty heady Fun drop (unless they've just returned from a vacation with the right Perk).  I used to just have them switch to computer games whenever their Mood went red and they stopped writing the term papers, but then I discovered that I could max their Fun (and then sit them back down for another term-paper-writing stretch) just by standing them up and having them View about three or four objects, which doesn't take long to do.  Ever since then, every computer room in every dorm I've built for my college subhoods has included a tight cluster of paintings, large sculptures, small sculptures, towel racks and anything else that can be Viewed for a Fun boost (with hobby-specific objects for my hobby-specific dorms, ie. power tools next to the computers in the Tinkering dorm).

I guess this is one of those Simmy departures from reality.  I've had a Star Wars poster hanging next to my computer for years, and even though it's a cool poster, no matter how many times I look at it nowadays, I don't feel any merrier.  On the other hand, my computer games (including TS2, of course) can turn a lousy day into a tolerable one in a matter of minutes.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed this oddity?  I guess it's a bit too late to ask Maxis to nerf paintings, huh?  ;)
