Plastic Surgery before game release[edit source]
If Jasmine's appearance is extracted to BodyShop, her facial structure will be different. This may imply that she had plastic surgery at some point before University was released, however this isn't explicitly stated. Also when viewing her character file in SimPE her zodiac sign is not recognized.
I know for a fact that a few players outside the Sims wiki have noticed certain changes in the facial features of Denise Jacquet, Gilbert Jacquet, and Jasmine Rai if their appearances are extracted to BodyShop. Supposed evidence that the three may have undergone plastic surgery at some point before their respective expansion packs were released can be found here. I have also started a fairly recent discussion about the same topic on this talk page.
The reason I'm starting a discussion here is because the said information that Jasmine may have had plastic surgery was removed. The edit summary being "(I'm unsure what kind of example you used the template as a standard...)".
While these three Sims, or Gilbert had least seem to pass on their current facial features to their children rather than their supposed "original face templates", the question remains whether such information should be removed from the other two pages, or be added back to this page. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:33, November 18, 2014 (UTC)
- First of all, what does "she had plastic surgery" mean? By that, did you refer it to Sims whose genetics are different from their appearance? That's fairly common in TS2, but does that necessarily mean they underwent a plastic surgery? Who knows? The factual statement that their genetics and appearance don't match is what's absolutely necessary to be stated. The part that said, "they had a plastic surgery" is a theory and assumption, which is why I removed it.
- Second, what does "at some point before University was released" mean? You mean, had their genetics been tweaked somehow, it occurred before TS2U was released? Of course it did! Sims were created before the game was released. The neighborhood was created and designed before the game was released. How come this occurred after it was released? Also, if you meant to say that "because it happened before TS2U was released, it's a mystery because plastic surgery hadn't existed yet," then you were wrong. Just because "it hadn't been released" doesn't mean the plastic surgery feature hadn't been in the developed version. Who knows, you're not the developer. For that reason I removed the "at some point before University was released" part. If I were you, I'd just rephrase it to "Jasmine's facial structure is different from her genetics" or something alike.
- Also, that part of the summary was to point out why you left so many spaces behind in the {{Sim2}} template. What did you use as a standard, if I may ask? Nikel Talk – Vote! 10:15, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
- I used that very same template. So I'm unclear how I came to leave spaces behind. Also I don't think it's in their genetics. All I know is that if you export them to BodyShop, the appearances of the extracted Sims will be different, but it will not affect the counterparts of those Sims in-game. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 20:56, November 19, 2014 (UTC)
- What counterparts? So, do you think it's not their genetics that don't match their appearance? Do you know what it might be, then? What if they have offspring or grow up? Will they retain / the children inherit the facial features? Nonetheless, even if we can't figure out what's the problem with this, I'm still inclined to remove the part about plastic surgery and prior to release for the same reason.
- I always use source mode except when I want to add a table, or change the colour of my username signature.
- Counterparts as in - the Sims and neighbourhoods that are stored on the hard drive, Sims and neighbourhoods that were replicated from the hard drive to the EA Games folder stored in my documents, or Sims that were extracted from SimPE to BodyShop in the SavedSims folder.
- I'm pretty sure it's only when they're extracted to BodyShop that their facial features change, but it doesn't affect the replicas in-game, provided they were extracted from the hard drive and not in the folder stored in my documents. From what I remember, their genetics match their current facial features, and not the ones they get if they are extracted to BodyShop. I guess it doesn't really count as plastic surgery after all.
- Well, if broken / mismatched genetics are not the cause here, then I really don't know what's wrong with her. One thing for sure is that I will not consider that she had gotten a plastic surgery.
