Redirect[edit source]

The purpose of that redirect wasn't so that people could link to "Juice," but so people searching for information on juices can more easily find it without knowing the exact article title. Typically articles with titles that are easily misspelled are usually redirected to from the more common misspellings; that's the kind of thing I was going for there. —Jimbo Jambo

I fail to understand why we need a redirect for a page that apparently no one had a problem linking to. Obviously if there was a few broken links on other pages then there was some confusion. Besides did you try searching for Juice? Juices come up as the first suggestion to what was being looked for. Also for future reference, in this wiki if you feel the need to request a page be brought back, then it is to be done so on Talk:Discussions/Delete Page. That way there is one central location for the issue. Thanks. Makiah (talk) 01:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
If you find a broken link on a page, you're supposed to fix it, not make a redirect page for it. The purpose of redirects like this is to remove the extra step of the user having to look through the articles listed and find the right one by redirecting them to the page they'd most likely be searching for, Juices in this case. What I really don't see is how such a redirect could possibly be so detrimental to the wiki as to warrant deletion. And sure, I'll do that in the future. —Jimbo Jambo
Ultimately it is my decision if I feel to delete a page or not. However if you would like to try and overturn that decision your welcome to try and do so via the page listed above. Complain all you want but if your not going to try and do anything then what's the point of complaining? If there are many broken links then clearly there is a misconception of what the page name is. It needs a redirect because it has another title. For example many of the expansion pack pages are titled The Sims: Vacation or The Sims 2: Seasons then have a redirect titled the expansion pack name like Seasons. This is because many users were typing [[Seasons]] in article pages without checking as to why there was no page. Thus a redirect is perfectly acceptable instead of fixing all the broken links. Links in pages show issues in searching, in my opinion. Plus if nothing links to the page Juice then it becomes a Orphaned Page. Makiah (talk) 04:23, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I know what you're saying, but I just don't see what's so bad about having that orphaned page. Like I said, it's not for linking, it's for searching, and as far as I know making it doesn't have any downsides. I wouldn't call this complaining by the way. At this point I'm either trying to get my point across or find the flaw in it which apparently makes it so disagreeable, and I don't want to bother creating a new page for that purpose. —Jimbo Jambo
