Am I being completely blind?[edit source]

I added some information about real life animals in the paitings folder but I'd like to know if anyone has seen images of real life animals within the game, whether it be in buy mode as a painting etc. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 18:07, June 18, 2011 (UTC)

With sufficient creativity skill, we can paint custom painting in easel. The picture of the animals you mentioned are for that custom painting purpose. This is a new feature from Pets. Seasons, Bon Voyage, and FreeTime also add new pictures in that folder for more custom paintings. In fact, we can also add our own pictures in the folder. Nikel23 09:22, June 19, 2011 (UTC)
I think I have heard things about real life images in other places as well, can't remember where though. --WH (talk) 09:34, June 19, 2011 (UTC)
Then I guess it's obvious that my Sims aren't very creative. :P Removed the part about the files. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 10:00, June 19, 2011 (UTC)
lol GG. FYI, we can also put our own video for TV channels and custom music in available radio station. But I don't really know how since I don't care putting custom things to my game. Nikel23 13:00, June 19, 2011 (UTC)
I guess we should leave the article as it is for now. Though I may experiment with the game and see if I can get a Sim to paint a trollface. :P Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 13:06, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

I'm completley sure that when a sim tells a ghost story (I don't know which expansion pack.) in Sims 3, Morcubus from MySims will randomly appear. I was watching a legacy and he poofed up when the sims told ghost stories, and he was in MySim form, not a real sim.207.119.0.43 02:12, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

Removed Easter Egg[edit source]

A while back I posted in the Homages to Art and Literature section a reference to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll but now it has been deleted. I would like to know if someone could tell me why it was deleted or at least the edit summary for the edit that removed it. Additionally, if it was deleted because I had no reference it was because I experienced it in my game and rushed to post it. Also, if someone could restore it/put it back that would be great, thanks. (I forgot my signiture and added it and this the day after I posted, I hope it's not a problem) O sry, i lost the crystal skull. 16:43, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

It would be quite difficult to track down which Easter egg was removed. Could you write it down again or specify when and/or what username you used to posted that Easter egg? Nikel Talk Vote! 11:17, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
I cannot write it down again because it was one of those pop-ups in the top-right corner and I copied it word-for-word. I can describe how it happened, but I doubt it will help because the chances of being able to re-create it are pretty low. Also, I am pretty sure I posted it under Zacadoole1, but I might have forgot to log in and it was anonymous. Isn't there a way to see previous versions of a page, though? I can't seem to figure it out. O sry, I lost the crystal skull. user:Zacadoole1 15:08, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
I've seen your contributions, and it seemed that you added it as an unregistered user. There is a log for the history in here, but it's really long and I can't check each of the revision to see which trivia was removed. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:11, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, wait. I've got it. Since you just replied with your IP, I saw the contribution and the Easter egg! It's here:

When your sim is investigating a tunnel dug by a miner you can get a message saying "SIM saw an officious looking white rabbit running down a tunnel, but decided to leave that business for some other sucker." This is a reference to the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.

::::Not sure if I could add it though. At least now I've retrieved it. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:14, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
Well Nikel, that was fast. I got an email notification while I was writing this and refreshed and there your post was. Twice. ;-) I found the edit where I added it but I didn't look for the one that removed it (yet). It was under my IP address. The easter egg is:
When your sim is investigating a tunnel dug by a miner you can get a message saying "SIM saw an officious looking white rabbit running down a tunnel, but decided to leave that business for some other sucker." This is a reference to the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" by Lewis Carroll.
(But you already knew that) Do you (or anyone else) have any objections to me adding it again? O sry, I lost the crystal skull. user:Zacadoole1 15:26, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
No, that's okay. But if you don't mind, I'll do this for you. Otherwise, add this instead; I've changed a little of the wordings.

When the Sim is investigating a tunnel dug by a miner, sometimes a message will pop up saying "(Sim) saw an officious looking white rabbit running down a tunnel, but decided to leave that business for some other sucker." This is a reference to the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

Okay, thanks for the help. I'll add that revised version. (Shoot, just realized I didn't sign that last post, I'm going to now) O sry, I lost the crystal skull. user:Zacadoole1 15:26, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
I'm also going to add "In The Sims 3," to the beginning of it so it is not unclear (ex. people who don't have TS or TS2 won't know what game it's in because they don't know if miners and whatnot are in those games). O sry, I lost the crystal skull. user:Zacadoole1 15:28, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry, can you post it Nikel? I can't get the italics/formatting off (I don't know if you can, though) O sry, I lost the crystal skull. user:Zacadoole1 15:33, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Okay then. I'll do that. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:34, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Conserving images[edit source]

Just in case the following images aren't marked as unused, I'll post them here. File links aren't considered "used," only if they are actually shown as pictures. :/ Nikel Talk Vote! 10:44, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Movie Poster References[edit source]

In "The Sims 3: University Life", I think I may have found an Easter egg with some of the various movie posters at the movie theatre on the campus of Sims University. I don't have the screen captures, but I know what I saw on there:

  • A movie poster of a face wearing a baseball catcher's mask, which could be a reference to the 2009 remake of the horror movie, Friday the 13th, where some posters and disc covers of the movie simply show Jason Voorhees' infamous hockey mask on the front
  • A movie poster of a female against a white background and wearing white facial paint with black facial paint around her eyes and running down to her cheeks and wearing and a small tiara upon her head, that may clearly be a reference to the movie poster for Black Swan
  • A movie poster of a near-silhouetted robotic figure from the chest up and eyes glowing, beside a man with two other men below, which may be a reference to the movie poster for Iron Man 2

If anyone else could possibly verify this, that would be great! Thank you!

I don't always browse through the decor section since it's too cluttered, but I did found 2 of them from MTS post:

Sims 2 GBA Egg and Alien Inscription in The Sims 3[edit source]

In The Sims 2 (DS) I have found an egg on the plasma TV. The egg is from The Sims 2 (GBA). I have encountered the video of one walkthrough with the "Let's Watch the Show" theme on YouTube. When I watched the vid, I was surprised since that same theme (on the Plasma TV in the DS version) was shown. Would that count as an egg for the DS version, or no? I need confirmation before I edit the section for The Sims 2. I don't think there is a vid on YouTube of the egg, but playing the DS version and getting the plasma TV could prove my point. But the egg may not appear all the time. You might need to change the channel a few times to show it since the channels follow the same order and are not random. There is also a video on YouTube to show what the alien inscriptions on the stone may mean. The player fears an alien invasion will happen soon. I forgot what the vid was called, though. Just look up "creepy sims glitches" and scroll down a bit (and choose "show more videos" if a computer has that button) and I think you should see it. I think it would be best to look up "Sims: Creepy Inscription on Rock Walls" or something. I don't know.

Regarding Morrigan Hemlock[edit source]

Just because she shares a first name with the character from the Bioware RPG series does not mean she is a reference to that character. Morrigan is the name of a Irish war goddess; I believe Wogan may be the name of a mythological diety as well, possibly a reference to Wodan, better known as Odin; both Belisama and Brigit were Celtic goddesses as well, with Brigit being one of the Tuatha De Danann; finally, the hemlock is a poisonous plants. Taking into consideration all of these points, I think that the point that claims Morrigan Hemlock is named after Morrigan from Dragon Age should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.218.228.208 (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

You have a good point, and I agree with you. It seems to be too speculative to say she's a reference. Even though, I know nothing about Dragon Age or mythology. Nikel Talk Vote! 18:03, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Portal Reference?[edit source]

In The sims 3 Pets for xbox 360, sometimes when exploring the abandoned mine, a message will pop up that reads:

"(Sim Name) was exploring when they came across the message "the pie is a lie!" scrawled'across the wall over and over again."

Well, that's more or less what it said, I haven't seen it for some time. Anway, this may be a reference to the phrase "the cake is the lie!"  from the game "portal". Maybe we should add that to the main page?

I'll put it on the list. :) Nikel Talk Vote! 15:33, December 10, 2013 (UTC)

Another easter egg not mentioned is the Lifetime Reward, I believe it came with Supernatural, called the Philosopher's Stone which turns objects into gold.  It's obviously a reference to Harry Potter. 101.165.124.74 (talk) 16:29, July 25, 2014 (UTC) Simz33

No, it isn't. The concept of the philosopher's stone is ancient. Dharden (talk) 16:55, July 25, 2014 (UTC)

(A) Game of Thorns[edit source]

Not sure, if this is really an allusion to A Game of Thrones, some fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin.

  1. The title doesn't begin with the "A" (just removed it from the article).
  2. Without the "A" it would be the TV series, but that premiered in 2011, while Sims 3 was released in 2009.
  3. The Sims novel isn't fantasy, but mystery.
  4. I can't find any connection between the names of the official author, George R. R. Martin (George Raymond (Richard) Martin), and of the fictional one, Guy le France.

Btw., in the German translation of the game they totally removed any possible allusion, for the TV series and the first novel are also called "A Game of Thrones" while the Sim novel was literally translated to "Dornenspiel" (thorn = Dorn; throne = Thron). -- CompleCCity (talk) 13:35, July 7, 2015 (UTC)

In the Dutch game it's called: Doornenspel. But in Sims 4 there is a book called Het spel der Tronen. If you translate that it literally means: Game of Thrones. Sims Player (talk) (mistakes) 12:36, July 9, 2015 (UTC)
I replied your message in your talk page, but I guess it's better if I quote some parts of my message here because it's relevant to the discussion:

As a commoner, the instance I heard "Game of Thorns," I immediately got reminded of the novel / series. To me, it didn't matter if it lacked a word / letter to the original title, or had differences in some details like the genre or author. I mean, it doesn't exactly have to be a full reference, because the pun title already rings the bell. Thus, I still think the book is a reference to that series and needs to be kept here, albeit ignoring certain details. However, it might be worth pointing out the points you've explained there in the list because I find those facts interesting and relevant as well.

Nikel Talk Vote! 17:40, July 9, 2015 (UTC)
Just did add these facts onto the page. As I am aware of the sensitivity of easter egg articles, perhaps someone could check that … -- CompleCCity (talk) 14:04, July 17, 2015 (UTC)

Quantum Power Suit?[edit source]

I feel sad no one has added the Quantum Power Suit as a possible nod to Mass Effect. The holographic guantlet looks suspiciously similar to an omnitool. Mimi Sardinia (talk) 12:11, February 13, 2018 (UTC)
