Granduncle vs. Great-Uncle?

I'm sorry, but it's confirmed that granduncle is the more proper and correct term than great-uncle. Great usually refers to how many generations up the uncle is. Such as great-granduncle = the brother of your great grandparent. A granduncle = you grandparents brother. So whoever changed it back, I just wanted to let you know what the correct terms it actually was. I know people usually use great-uncle, even I used to when I was younger. So it's understandable why you changed it. But granduncle > great-uncle. DarkSuicune2000 05:22, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

For as long as I can remember, I have always recalled great-uncle as the correct term. In-fact I have very seldomly heard the term "granduncle". According to what I've just looked up on the wikipedia, both terms are correct. Yes, but it never made sense to me. We don't say "great-father" for our grandfathers or "great-great-father" for our great-grandfathers... Why do we say it with our granduncles? Uh... I dislike the term grand-uncle as much as I dislike "Supposably". DarkSuicune2000 08:04, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

What I was trying to say was it's confusing on why people use great-uncle instead of granduncle. Granduncle makes way more sense. Grandfather and granduncle fit together very well. "Great" should only be used to add generations above our grandparents' generation. DarkSuicune2000 08:13, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

How does granduncle confusing at all? It makes perfect sense! Also just because it's more commonly used doesn't excuse you to use it. Ain't is more commonly used than aren't, but I see it on no Wikipedia page. DarkSuicune2000 08:23, January 10, 2016 (UTC)

The last time I checked, great-uncle etc. was the term used in the majority of our Sim articles, and if we began using terms like "grand uncle", then it wouldn't be consistent. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 08:29, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
