Sul Sul: Trapped in Tar[edit source]

Sul Sul: Trapped in Tar is one of the non-skill-books I found. I don't remember for sure, but I 'think' it's from the past. Can anyone elaborate on this?75.75.10.6 17:23, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

You should be able to tell by the cover. Plain red or brown leatherbound books are from the past. The books from the future are light grey with blue on the front, with either flashing lights or an animated wave. Tchotchke 18:09, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Effects of Time Travel[edit source]

Wouldn't it be an idea to gather a list of all the possible outcomes of time travel? We should probably split it in two with past and future. Duskey 20:38, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

So far it seems that travelling to the past can change things dramatically, while travelling to the future merely grants you neat stuff.
I wonder if some of the consequences overlap, requireing a "both" category. Duskey 00:32, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
I'm beginning to think it should just say "random moodlet", listing them all seems pretty pointless at this point. The items, clothes and a min/max for the simoleans is nice though. | Duskey | 17:52, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

List of Time Travel consequences[edit source]

Future Rags

Skin-tight jumpsuits for everyone!

Past[edit source]

  • Info box said my sim knocked over a board with job postings and changed careers. The level of the career is still the same though.
  • In the old american west my sim convinced a sim not to go some place else and I ended up with 3 good friends, a new family in the neighborhood. The other sims in my household got those friends aswell. I'm not sure if they merely changed a pre-existing family or whether they're entirely new.
  • Got a rusty set of armor as new clothing
  • Got a Caveman Outfit
  • My Sim took a little souvenir from past - a child! It's a boy, he has normal (this time) clothing and in family tree is marked as a son of my Sim. But info box said that he is ancestor of my Sim.
  • Seems sex is random, since I got a girl. My Sim is single and the daughter doesn't have a mother in the family tree. Also has normal clothing.
  • I got a daughter back from the past wearing normal clothes. It said that my Sim's wife was her step mom.
  • When I unlocked the suit of armour my Sim also found a Firefighter of the Year award, even though he isn't employed.
  • Playable ghosts (ghost babies etc.) that travel to the past can come back as normal sims.

Future[edit source]

  • Random positive or negative moodlet.
  • 389-3020§ (Just edit this number if you find a new min/max)
  • Items:
    • Birthday Inferno Birthday Cake.
    • SimCity 7940 Tips and Tricks It's just an ordinary non-skill book worth 1707§ at the bookstore if you sell it.
    • Mars Real Estate Dos and Don'ts non-skill book, sellable for 497§.
    • Unlocked new outfit (see image on the right)
    • Thoggus

I added this list to the main page, please add new stuff there, but discuss the details around them here. Duskey(talk)(blog) 13:21, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

The kid you get from travelling in the past isn't your ancestor. It says you had a discussion with a group of people talking about children and you say that having children is one of the most important things a sim can do, or something similar to that. Then it says that one person was very influenced by what you said and that it may have been one of your ancestors. It doesn't say that you take ther kid and come home with them. It's reasonable to assume that the person had more kids, and passed on to their kids that it is important to reproduce, that eventually makes it to your sim and you have a child. 71.61.250.93 10:23, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

words from the dialog:

"<sim> was rushing through a packed street and managed to save an orphan fomr being trampled. Another sim saw this and exclaimed aloud how children are so important and we should have more of them. This sim looked suspisously like <sim>, but hopefully that doesnt mean anything."

seems like you picked up your ancestor, who was an orphan, or your future child who went time traveling ang got stuck in the far past. 69.204.39.198 15:01, July 11, 2010 (UTC)

New outfit[edit source]

The future clothes somewhat resemble the Gamer career work clothes from TS2: Seasons. Dharden 07:50, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Getting the positive or negative moodlet[edit source]

It seems random to me. I've had all kinds of Sims through the machine and none of them showed any pattern. Even though the Brave trait is select in the "Travel in Time" menu, it doesn't seem to do anything. | Duskey | 11:55, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

My sims always get the negative time travel when they come back with Stuff Taken moodlet. Tchotchke 14:35, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Try with the Adventurous trait. It looks like it does give positives more often.

Time machine once said I saved a child and when I came back I came back with an ELDER who was son of the sim :)

Outfits & Objects[edit source]

I've used the time machine 20 times, but I've never found anything in the past or future. No objects or outfits. What is the chance of actually finding anything?

"Travel To The Future" Option[edit source]

Just as it says, for once. I created a Time Machine with my inventor sim, and it's now giving me the same "Travel to the Future" and "Travel to the Future with ..." options as the Time Portal does. CONFIRMED:' it leads to Oasis Landing! 'Just tested it.

I've had it sitting outside, though, for a few days in-game and there have been no tourists from the future. So, since this dumps me in Oasis Landing, but doesn't allow tourists to randomly come through, then it could be noted as a potential benefit for those who don't want tourists coming back in time.

Given the time investment required for the machine, the automatic gatekeeping comes across as a feature, at the very least. ~Virtue (Axelskox) 08:40, April 26, 2016 (UTC)
