May 2019 Community News

May brings to us a lot of secrets and surprises! Things have quieted down a bit around the wiki, but that should change as university and college students from the northern hemisphere finish up their studies and are let off for their summer break. We're looking forward to seeing our usual editors return to the wiki for the year! In the meantime, I'll hold you over with...

Community discussion threads that need your input

The community discussion forum is still the place where new proposals and changes to the wiki can be discussed by the community as a whole. Changes are made through consensus formed by discussion, and everyone is welcome to participate!

  • There is a thread to change the names of "collection" articles, such as Bug collecting and Metal collecting, for consistency with other articles of the same subjects.
  • There is a thread to discuss how to separate and organize pages for Sims that appear in multiple games (since The Sims 4's deviation from the normal storyline has been tripping us up since 2014).
  • There is a thread on potentially migrating The Sims Wiki off the Wikia platform to a new hosting service.

Updates to the Discord server

On April 23, the Discord server was connected to the wiki's two IRC channels via a relay bot. This means that users on IRC can talk to users on Discord, and vice versa. If you're on Discord, the relay channel is located at #irc-relay. If you're on IRC, everything you type gets sent to Discord now. Thanks to Lost Labyrinth for providing us with the relay bot, even though he is totally retired from the wiki.

If you have any other suggestions as to how we can improve the server, please let us know in the #server_feedback channel on the server! And if you're not in the server yet, well... you're missing out on a whole lot!
