The request for administratorship for Icemandeaf (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log)

Nomination[edit source]

I would like to nominate Icemandeaf for administrator rights on the wiki. He has been an active contributor to the wiki for several months, and has shown himself to be a very capable editor. He has made several edits to templates on the wiki, including creating a new template for use on Sim pages. He has also effectively used the rollback tool and issued warnings to offending users. I think that all this, and more, demonstrates that he is ready to be promoted to administrator here on the wiki. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 01:28, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

I would first like to say that I am very honored (and again floored) to be nominated for administrator rights. When I was first nominated for rollback rights, I was flabbergasted. At that time, I looked into what administrators do because it was mentioned that rollback rights was a step to administrator rights. I was honestly intimidated by the prospect of becoming an administrator. I still kind of am — worried I might do something wrong. But I have learned from the rollback rights that while it may have seemed like a daunting responsibility, it is possible for me to learn what I need to become a good administrator just like I have learned with the rollback rights. While the prospect scares me a little, I will accept this nomination because I know that the community won't give me administrator rights if they feel I am not yet ready. Discussion[edit source]

This discussion shall last for at least five days.

Moderate support - Icemandeaf has only been a rollback for less than two months, but in that time he has demonstrated good use from that privilege. I'm not giving outright support here, in-fact I'm a little worried that I might be giving away my support too soon. I still feel that Icemandeaf could benefit from these rights and I'm sure that he would make a good administrator. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:50, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Support - As I am the nominee, I obviously support this nomination. In addition to the reasons I gave in the nominating statement, I wanted to expand upon the reasons for this nomination. Icemandeaf has shown himself to be a skilled wiki editor, and he has effectively used the rollback tool and other tools to improve the wiki. He also seems to be intelligent, level-headed, and trustworthy. Although he has only held rollback for a couple months, he has shown that he is capable of using it and understanding it, and so to will he grow into the administrator position; I would not have nominated him for this position if I was not confident in this. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 05:58, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Support - I feel two months is more than enough experience to become an administrator, especially in Icemandeaf's case. He has shown clearly that he knows how to use the rollback tool. He also weighs in on important discussions, and has even weighed in on a few administrative discussions, which shows he likes to get his opinion heard on discussions. I fully support his nomination. Good luck Icemandeaf! Beds (talk - blog) 09:12, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Support - Well, by looking at your recent contributions, I can definitely say that you excel more in edit quality than mere quantity as many people think of. Since receiving the rollback tool you've been acting like you're a delivery person and has just replaced their junkyard-on-wheels for a jetpack. If you're a little overwhelmed... don't be (although TBH I wasn't very overwhelmed when I got admin rights for the first time on another wiki, since I had always looked at administrator actions on Wikipedia and was fascinated by it). Remember, we honour quality over quantity here on The Sims Wiki, and (not to brag) I think I set an example, becoming an admin only one month after my promotion to rollback, which really shows you how TSW prefers an admin that's only been recently active for a few months and has made a few very high quality edits (not to mention I'm just a teen) over someone who's been here for several years and has made nothing but semi-automated edits. If it helps, here is some advice for new admins and what adminship is not. However, I think you'll do just fine, and if you have questions, yes, you're more than welcome to ask! Even the best administrators ask questions from time to time! --k6ka (talk | contribs) 10:43, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Additional Comment [1]. Diff pretty much says it all. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 22:36, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

Comment - Without getting too off-topic, I can say that I remember being overwhelmed when I first got administrator rights. Mostly I was afraid that I would end up wrecking something or accidentally deleting something. But after getting used to those tools, you realize that they're really not that daunting. And, I can say that even after years of administratorship, I can still make stupid mistakes. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 00:53, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

In response to LostInRiverview - as the classic story goes - Don't delete the main page! Same goes for all admins, current and future. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 01:11, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Skimming over his contributions, I can see that Icemandeaf brings with him a strong knowledge of how to go about improving the wiki and is effective in doing so. Yes he's only had rollback for 2 months but in that 2 months he's managed to use the tool effectively. Furthermore he gets involved with wiki politics and with the community itself. I feel that both Icemandeaf and the wiki would benefit greatly from him becoming an admin. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 17:16, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Support - With his contributions as far as I observe, Icemandeaf has convinced me. He knows how to handle stuff in the wiki, including maintaining templates and reverting vandalism. His participation in many discussions and forums in this wiki has made him familiar to this wiki. It's not only his frequent participation that interests me, but rather, his comprehension of the discussions. All in all, I'm convinced and believe that Icemandeaf could become a good administrator here. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:32, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Support - With already strong support from the contributors above me, there's not much else to be said. Icemandeaf would surely benefit with the admin tools, particularly with reverting vandalism and doing general cleanup around the wiki. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 22:14, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
