In April 2019, The Customized Sims Wiki was merged into the migrated The Sims Wiki as part of an initiative to reconcile the gap between The Sims Wiki and the custom content community, along with the desire to revive The Customized Sims Wiki. The Customized Sims Wiki was originally located on Wikia but fell into disuse and neglect, having lacked experienced guidance to steer it forward. By merging with The Sims Wiki, the goal was to give both communities a boost in both readership and editorship. With the merger, The Customized Sims Wiki was able to:

  • take advantage of The Sims Wiki's renowned collection of infobox templates;
  • be part of an already-established community of experienced editors that could steer it in the right direction;
  • be on a much more prominent URL that was easier to access

The merger was also a plus to The Sims Wiki too. By merging it into the migrated The Sims Wiki, users have an incentive to use the migrated wiki as opposed to the old Wikia one. Both wikis were able to leave the Wikia ecosystem and together expand their collection of information. Historically, The Sims Wiki has been poor with documenting custom content created by the community. With the merger, this should change.
