This is a glossary of how family relations within The Genesis Project are identified. Some words are very similar to how such family relations are normally identified, while others have entirely new words due to the unusual nature of a single-gender community. There is also a generic family tree below to help illustrate the relations as well.

Lines should never meet in a cross (+). When this cannot be avoided, the vertical line is not related to the crossed horizontal line. Also, horizontal lines should not connect to the side of the boxes except for when a Sim has multiple relations or when the line would lead to an unintentional crossing of lines. Cousins and nephews have no relationship lines, but the image of their dam/sire will show which uncle(s) or sibling(s) the relation occurs.

  1. This term is used to differentiate the difference between the parent who sired the child from the parent who gave birth. While it is generally used to refer to animals rather than people, I have decided to use it in favor of mother due to the fact that there are no female parents. I realize that it isn't a commonly used word, but it is still correct to use it in this fashion.
