This is the username used by the MediaWiki software. It is used by Miraheze Staff when performing maintenance tasks, and by the rebuildmessages.php script to keep MediaWiki system messages up to date with their default messages.

MediaWiki default is not a bot and is unaffected by blocks.

Edits made by this script have a user ID of 0, so they are treated like anonymous edits. They cannot be viewed in the contributions page due to T36873, although they can be seen via querying the API.

Issues with the script should be reported to Phabricator.
