About me[edit source]

I live in Ireland with my 16 year old daughter. We are both Sims players.

I have been playing the Sims since the Sims 1 and love the game completely. So far, my favourite games, as far as polish and playability were the Sims 2 games. Something happened between the Sims 2 and the Sims 3 that really impacted on playability and the number of game destroying bugs sky rocketed. I would love to see them actually fix this as this is a much loved game that doesn't deserve to go down without a fight because programmers aren't bothered to ensure they're releasing a playable game.

Sims 3 has some really great benefits to it that I would love to see better cared for and given more TLC by programmers and developers. With Generations, and having spent a lot of time checking the official Sims 3 website, I was thrilled to see that they were actually listening to what people wanted out of this game.

The memories are back, but there are flaws that I hope will be improved. Dating is back bug again, with the forming of a group function introduced in Late Night, this also needs improvement.

Either way I love my sims and unless they completely destroy this franchise I can see myself enjoying this game for years to come.

Aside from Sims I enjoy RPG's. Final Fantasy VII being my favourite, but also love WRPGs like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and some RPS games like Half Life, Bioshock and Crysis. I also enjoy puzzle games like Portal and Portal 2. I don't like straight shooters as I find them boring. I need a storyline that doesn't read like a military dossier!

My favorite pages[edit source]

  • Mod the Sims - www.modthesims.com - Best place to get safe, quality custom content.
  • The Sims 3 - www.thesims3.com - The only place to really learn about all the bugs and problems to look out for with the Sims 3 game.
  • The website of the only story progression mod I'll ever use, www.the-isz.com/nraas.
  • Other than that, YouTube, Wikepedia, Newspaper Websites and Snopes.

My favorite Sims[edit source]

  • Have to admit that my favourite sims are the ones that I create. I don't like townie families like the Shallow family where everyone is mean spirited, inappropriate, hot headed or insane. It makes for very difficult socialisation.
  • Jebidiah Wilson - Quiet doctor type tends to become the partner for a lot of my sims should I move a single one into town.

The Sims games I own[edit source]

  • Sims 1 and all Expansion Packs. Favourite Expansion Pack, Holidays and Unleashed.
  • Sims 2 and all Expansion Packs. Favourite Expansion Pack, Seasons.
  • Sims 3 along with all the expansions and stuff packs, save for Fast Lane Stuff. So far Generations is my favourite Expansion Pack for the Sims 3 while Late Night is my least favourite. Love the concept for Late Night, being able to play in a city, pianos etc, but celebrity is forced upon your sim even if you don't enter the acting career or live in a place where there's even a studio or night club (Sunset Valley and Twinbrook for example)!! I felt this expansion pack was the only Sims experience where you are being forced to play the game a certain way. Yes, your local supermarket shelf stocker can be a 4 star celebrity if they know the right people...which is really stupid.
  • My ultimate Sims 3 wish is that they would sell the stuff from the expansion packs separately. Often if I find I don't like an expansion pack (like Late Night), I might install it just for the stuff but with Late Night you have to suffer for the stuff.
  • Will probably never...ever download Hidden Springs. €25 for a single...solitary location? I don't think so. Not when independent modders can give you just as beautiful a location for free.
  • We also have The Sims (the first ever console sims) for the PS2 and I think this is the only Sims game that translated well to console. Everything afterwards was terrible. Sims Bustin' Out was our first time actually owning a vehicle in the scooter and this was the last Sims console game that I would consider playable. Sims doesn't translate well to console and the Sims 3 was no exception to that fact. I'll stick to the PC game thanks!

Goals[edit source]

  • I would love to create an article with all of the bugs in the game and real solutions for them. One issue I find with the Sims 3 website is that so often the techs will try to blame your computer specs or your installation procedures, custom content etc. Now, while those issues can cause some people's problems, they definitely don't account for all of them. A page like that would make people aware if what they're experiencing is a bug in the game or a problem with their game/computer specifically. It would really cut down on the number of people who you read about completely uninstalling the games and all CC only to have the same problems because it's a bug and not their computer or game.
  • Outside of learning more about Sims and helping out where I can here, I'm also considering posting my Sims 3 stories on my legacy to my Facebook account in a photo area because if you didn't get enough hits or thumbs up on the official site, your story was removed. They also can't keep photos on the site so they slowly begin to disappear, but I make my little sims stories for my daughter and I to enjoy so hopefully I'll find a place to post them.

Legacies[edit source]

  • My current Sims 3 legacy is on hold until EA patch the aging issue within the game. The family name is Matthews and I have made it my own little soap opera! John and Mae Matthews are the Matriarch and Patriarch of the family and have two children, rebel Talia and emotional, grudge holding Riley. Riley was chosen as my legacy child because with him I was able to continue my soap opera of sorts! Infidelity and intrigue, at least my daughter enjoys it!
  • I have also started a legacy on the James family which is a lot more toned down than my Matthews family and takes place in Twinbrook.
