The time has come for me to wonder, is The Sims 3 a disappointment? I decided to write a blog post about this ( by the way, why do they say your writing a blog post, when technicly, you are typing?:) ). The Sims 3 had more than enough to live up to, and it would be a massive challange for the guys at EA to design a game that is balanced between a The Sims game and 50% comepletely origanal. So, lets see. In its first week, The Sims 3 sold 1.4 million copies and today has sold more than 4.2 milion copies. Ratings go from average 85% - 92%. Now, in my opinion, The Sims 3 is the best game you can find. No storyline. No rules. Endless options. No limits. Well, the game did not come without its problems. We complain about EVERYTHING, but we don't really realise that EA are busy fixing as much as they can. The patches are there to fix the bug's (wich we sometimes cause), adding the stuff we miss so bad a fair amount at a time (if I gave you a expansion pack with 9999 completely new stuff, i'll have a real hard time thinking up brand new ideas). We keep bombarding the designers with WE WANT THIS! WE WANT THAT! And this only stresses them, resulting in the final game being a dissapiontment. Oh, and remmember when we were so sad we could'nt edit the world, but now we can? The biggest problems are that all they are doing is re-using old ideas, and not the good ones. Exotic-places - Vacations + Long Loading Screens = World Adventures Open For Business - Opening Businesses + Sad, horrible Simbots = Ambitions. Late Night actually took many ideas and spiced them up, so thats a win. Also, EA has time to bring in some uncreative new ideas, instead of answering our call's for the thing's we really want? The game has some very good stuff, though. Open neigborhood, moodlets are cool, better, well, almost everything. The game is much better than the previous ones, but still needs many more improvements. So, IMO, the game rocks. 110%. And to everyone complaining, just think about all stress the people at EA have to go through. Would you last a day?
