EA Playtesting recruits Sims players in the San Francisco Bay area

EA Playtesting recruited a number of Sims players in the San Francisco Bay area to pay a visit to EA Redwood Shores for an hour on September 10, 2015. Feedback was given by those who attended, and they got a $75 gift card in return.[1]

The announcement has been criticized for coming out at the last minute, giving users barely a day to sign up.[2]

Battles!
Ding ding!
Do you like robots? Not just the loyal, interesting, awesome bots we have on The Sims Wiki, but the bots that make your bed, vacuum the floor, mop up puddles, fix the sink, cook your meals, and even make your nights less lonely. Sounds cool?

Robots have existed since The Sims: Livin' Large, but it wasn't until The Sims 2: Open for Business that they really got interesting. The Sims 3 brought with it two types of robots in two expansion packs: SimBots with Ambitions, and Plumbots with Into the Future.

Which one of these two do you prefer? It's people like you that run our battles and determine the winner — vote now!

Wikia and personal Javascript collide

Recently on Wikia, you may have heard about a recent security issue involving the use of customized Javascript, in which a number of accounts were compromised. As a security measure, Wikia Staff disabled all editing of CSS and JS pages (including personal ones), and all pages in the MediaWiki namespace (normally only editable by administrators). As time has passed, more and more pages in the MediaWiki namespace, as well as all CSS pages, have been reopened for editing. However, everything else, including JS, is still locked.

Recently, Wikia now requires that all users wishing to use personal Javascript must enable it in their user preferences. When the "Enable personal JavaScript" option is ticked, anything you have in your personal JS files will load; if it isn't ticked, it simply won't load.

Currently, community JS files (such as MediaWiki:Common.js), as well as most other pages in the MediaWiki namespace, still cannot be edited. We at The Sims Wiki unfortunately have no control over this issue.

Additionally, community (site-wide) Javascript will soon change drastically. Wikia is planning to implement a review process for site-wide Javascript. Any new changes made to the community JS files must be approved by a team of Wikia-selected users. Additionally, it will no longer be possible to import Javascript code from the user namespace; some of our scripts does this. We are aware of these changes and appropriate updates to the JS files will be made to ensure our customized scripts will continue to function.

The initial thread regarding this issue can be found here. An update to the issue that revealed Wikia's plan for the future can be found here.
