Basements return in The Sims 4

EA will be reintroducing basements to the world of The Sims, as revealed in the The Sims 4: Get to Work Retail Trailer. In fact, you'll be able to get two level basements, as well as an additional above ground floor![1] It won't be specific to Get to Work, though; even if you don't own that expansion pack, you should be able to get basements via a patch or update.[2] It may come out around the time Get to Work comes out. That's about half-a-month away, so be patient!

New patch coming out March 31st!

A patch will be coming out for The Sims 4 on March 31 — the same date the Get to Work expansion pack is coming out.[3] In addition to the two-level basements and one additional above-ground story to build on, as mentioned above:

  • The ability to move all the content on a lot (Picks up everything on the lot and moves it around the lot. Anything moved outside the boundaries of the lot will be "sliced" off, like cheese)
  • The ability to download houses that are larger than the size of your lot, and to decide which parts of the house to keep
  • You will now be able to see who's following you in the Gallery.[4]
  • The ability to show/hide custom content in your game, if you wish.
  • An interface change to the world selector screen.[5]

Hopefully I didn't miss anything! You'll have to wait until the end of this month to get your hands on the new expansion pack. If you can't wait to start a Sim business, you can go back to The Sims 2: Open for Business and start a business there... that'll hold you over until then. Hopefully!

Battle 114
Schmoozer vs Rebellious

We have a new entry at the battleground! Are your Sims cool with being cool with the system, or cool with not being cool with the system? Please vote! You don't need to be logged in to vote, so go right ahead!

Fanon Battle 31
Howlgard vs Tsukitani vs Heptanomis

This time it's a three-way battle between neighborhoods! Howlgard is a small town on an archipelago founded by a Northern European family of werewolves. Tsukitani is a quiet little town founded by the Japanese, rudely disturbed by the growing power of two families. Heptanomis is the capital of a power-starving nation that only cares about academic progress in the elixir market. Who will win? Only you can decide!
