- This month's Question
The Sims games are often criticized by "real" gamers for being too casual. The Sims, and most Maxis games in general, have very few goals or objectives for players to meet, and are very open-ended. Often these titles are likened more to virtual toys or sandboxes than actual games. That said, there is still some challenge in The Sims games; keeping the Sims alive and happy, building relationships between Sims, and attaining success all require some level of skill. However, many fans of the series have said that The Sims 3 is too easy, when compared to its predecessors. Other players respond that the purpose of The Sims games is to allow players to fantasize and play however they want without sticking to rigid rules, and that making the game more challenging would limit this flexibility.
