User blog:LostInRiverview/The Sims Wiki News - 12th July 2015
The news is a few hours early this week, but it's better to be early than late. There's plenty of news to talk about this week, so let's not waste any more time!
- Spa Day releases on Tuesday!
The Sims 4's second game pack, The Sims 4: Spa Day, is to be released on July 14th. Ahead of this release, we've gotten some new information about the new game pack. Among the highlights are:
- Three Maxis-made spas and a new Maxis-made gym will release with the pack
- A new skill—Wellness—will be introduced; improving this skill will allow Sims to become better at giving massages and performing yoga
- Sims can WooHoo in the new sauna; Sims can also die from over-using the sauna.
You can read more about the other features included in Spa Day on this news post
- Update 21 is out
The 21st update to The Sims 4 is now out. Among bugfixes and introducing minor features, Update 21 introduced "half walls" and door locking to TS4.
The half walls are expanded upon from TS2 and TS3. There are now 5 different heights of half walls, ranging from short to tall. Sims can communicate to other Sims on the other side of a half wall (much like a fence or railing). Half walls can be painted with any wall pattern, just as regular walls can. Half walls can also hold wall-mounted objects and even windows, a first for half walls in the series.
- Possible new Compilation Pack/"bundle" coming this month
SimsVIP has uncovered The Sims 4 Game Bundle listed for sale on several online retailer websites. The price given right now for the bundle is 40 Euros, and the bundle is said to include Spa Day, Luxury Party Stuff, and Perfect Patio Stuff. You can read more about this on SimsVIP.com. Please keep in mind that, for the moment, this bundle is still not officially confirmed by Maxis/EA.
- More information needed on Spa Day
As I mentioned above, Spa Day is set to be released this week. Yet, if you look at the Spa Day article, you'll see that it's just a stub, with barely two paragraphs of text and next to no information about the pack or what's in it. If you've been following the development of Spa Day, please take a few minutes to add information to that article (be sure to cite your sources). Additionally, other articles on the wiki related to Spa Day might also be in need of brushing up, or relevant articles for pack objects or features might need to be created.
- Help us tame our list of unused files and images
The Sims Wiki has a policy related to images and files uploaded here, which requires that files be used once uploaded or else they can be deleted. Despite this policy, we currently have hundreds of files on the wiki that are not used anywhere. These files could be used on our articles, but many of them have been forgotten and may be deleted unnecessarily as a result. Please take some time to look through the list and help us find a home for these orphaned images!
- Community Discussions need your voice!
As always, we have a plethora of community discussions in need of your input. Please consider lending your voice and ideas to these threads:
- Featured Content voting issue
- Should we separate The Sims 4 information from the Original pages?
- TS4 trait pages
- Proposing an exception to the Notability Policy
- Bot policy
- Sims series navbox redesign
- Retiring the fanon battles
- Resolved discussions
In the past week, a few community discussions have been resolved or closed. They are:
- Replacing ReferenceTooltips with ReferencePopups - Proposed change was implemented after support from those who responded to the thread
- Articles for inhabited lots - Thread was closed without resolution
- Seperating red hair from Orange hair - Thread was closed, as the issue for discussion was a misunderstanding
If you are a strong writer and engaged in the community, feel free to volunteer for the news team and help us write more of these blogs. We're also looking to publish more game-related blog posts, so if you have an interest in telling the news in that form, let us know!
As always, let me know if I've missed anything, and let me know what you think of this week's news. Thanks for reading!–LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 17:19, July 11, 2015 (UTC)
