User blog:LostInRiverview/The Sims Wiki News - 20th February 2014
This is a light week, news-wise. Let's get to it!
Sims news[edit source]
- Voice actress leaving The Sims team
Nicki Rapp, who has provided voices in Simlish for The Sims games since The Sims: Makin' Magic in 2002, has confirmed that she will not be participating in The Sims 4. It was earlier confirmed that there would be brand new voices for Sims in the new game. You can read more about this, and watch/listen to a video of Nicki recording in Simlish, here (courtesy of SimsVIP)
- March Store Set is a throwback to a The Sims 2 stuff pack
SimGuruCopeland has hinted that the next store set is a re-imagining of a stuff pack from The Sims 2. He later confirmed that the stuff pack being re-imagined is not IKEA Home Stuff. You can read more about this here (courtesy of BeyondSims)
The Sims Wiki news[edit source]
- Wikia eliminating user-to-user email feature
More active users on The Sims Wiki may know that there is a special tool which allows emails to be sent between multiple users. However, Wikia staff has confirmed that this tool will be removed in an upcoming update. You can read more about this on Lost Labyrinth's blog on the subject. Also, thanks to Xd1358, an admin on c:Wookieepedia (the Star Wars wiki) and frequent IRC'er, for giving us the heads-up on this change.
- Discussions
As usual, we have several threads of discussion open on the Community Discussions Forum. Please take a moment to weigh in on:
- Determining how to refer to "regular" non-occult Sims
- Eliminating voting on and clarifying the process for RfAs and RfBs
- Reforming and overhauling current wiki policies
- Changing the image used in the wiki header
Poll[edit source]
As mentioned above and in Lost Labyrinth's blog, Wikia is cutting support for the email user feature. This feature is often used for private communication between users, and in resolving indefinite blocks against users. What do you think of the plan to remove the feature?
