The Sims Wiki on Discord

A couple weeks ago, we soft-launched a server on Discord for The Sims Wiki. Discord is a free-to-use real-time chat platform that features both text and voice chatting, image and file sharing, and several other neat features. The TSW Discord server is meant to be a place for members of the The Sims Wiki community to chat in real-time about both topics relevant and irrelevant to The Sims Wiki. Discord is not meant to replace our established "chat channels" - the IRC Channel or wiki Chat - or to replace on-wiki discussions on article talk pages or the Forums. However, having multiple off-wiki places to communicate, collaborate, and blow off a little steam can help to build a stronger community, and serve as a jumping-off point to on-wiki discussions or actions.

If you're curious about Discord, or already have a Discord account, why not join us?

Right now, we're accepting new server members from the wiki editor community. If you've been editing on The Sims Wiki for over a week (regardless of where on the wiki you choose to edit), you are welcome on the server. Unlike IRC or Chat, there is a specific procedure set up to bring in new server users; this is to prevent spammers and trolls from joining the server. Be aware that the server does have a few basic rules of conduct - don't spam, don't attack others, keep discussions appropriate for general audiences.

For more information on Discord, a full list of server rules, an explanation of server roles, and a step-by-step outline on how to join the server, check out this page. If you have any questions about the Discord server, or need help joining for the first time, please feel free to reach out to one of the server moderators or leave a message on the Discord talk page.

We hope to see you there!
