User blog:Lost Labyrinth/The Sims Wiki News - 27th February 2014
Yo! It's that time of the week where we nitpick through the internet archives to give you relevant news.
The Sims news[edit source]
Once again there's very little news relating to the series. Google just listed a topless model and the CEO of Blackberry if I searched for news for The Sims.
- GDC (Game Developers Conference) takes place on March 17th and developers are expected to show up to hear about the "advanced" AI utilised in The Sims 4.
- EA believes that digital sales will exceed retail in 2 years. Looks like 56k warnings will be replaced with ADSL warnings.
- SimCity is 30% off on Origin until March 4th.
Wiki news[edit source]
- We removed the voting procedure entirely from RfA/RfB as a result of this thread.
- We have other discussions going on:
- Enjoy editing The Sims Wiki? Think you could possibly do more for the wiki than you can with your current toolset? Why not consider putting yourself forward for rollback, chat moderator, IRC chanop, administrator or bureaucrat rights respectively? Feel free to read our article on user rights to gain an understanding of what these rights are and how they work.
- As announced just over a week ago, Wikia have disabled user-to-user email. If you need to talk to another user privately, I hope you both have access to Chat or IRC.
Poll[edit source]
Whilst completely irrelevant to The Sims, I found this article on a 13 year old spending £4000 on FIFA 14 microtransactions. In a similar way to store content for The Sims 3, what if microtranscations was a thing for The Sims 4? Given that the game is bound to sell by the bucketload (only thing stopping it now is an Aliens: Colonial Marines-esque development hell possibility), this would be majorly profitable for EA. While the argument of how somebody would be perceived if they actually paid for microtransactions is both an open and, at-times, touchy subject, some players do pay money just to progress. And that's my jumping off point for this week's poll.
That's all I can dig up this week. Comment, follow us, blah blah blah. Lost Labyrinth • (c) • (b) 22:33, February 26, 2014 (UTC)
