Fanon Template Guideline

Greetings there, new user!

You wished to use the Green boxes? Hmm, then simply use this: Copy it in either mode and modify it and you should be ok, although in this case Source mode is recommended (as it lists the different things to be listed). This is an empty Sims 3 Sim template.

As a sidenote, when you go writing things like hair color and eye color, preferably state the sim's hair color (unless none of the listed fit: examples such as this and this ) as either black, blone, red (which includes shades of oranges), brown or grey, as other inputs will put them on the colored hair section. This is a minor element but it helps in categorization. Likewise with eye color, use blue, green, brown, or grey, as other inputs will put them on the category "Sims with unusual eye color (fanon)".

You also stated to have wanted to have some screenshots, right? Regarding screenshot, simply press C to take a screenshot. However, if you wish to take those headshots with the blank backgrounds, the way to do it as far as I know is to use the s3pe program (google it): once you have that opened, Depending on your OS,

(XP)

It should start at My Document -> Electronic Arts -> Sims 3 -> Library

(Vista/Win7)

Document -> Electronic Arts -> Sims 3 -> Library

And there is where your families are.

But, to do it that way you must save the family into the library: if you haven't done so, when you play the game, go to the town edit mode, select your family and click on the folder button, which will send your family into the library for you to access.

OR

Document -> Electronic Arts -> Sims 3 -> Saved Sims

Like the family one, you also must save the individual sim. The quickest way in most occasion is to activate the cheat testingcheatsenabled (opening the console via ctrl+shift+c), and assuming that your game is up to date, shift clicking your sim will allow you to access the CAS menu (beware, your sim must be in one of the 5 standard clothing set, that is no work clothes or martial arts clothes), and from there there should be a button at the bottom right corner of the sim portrait with the ellipses on it. Once again, click the folder icon.

Having opened the file, you will get a list of files. To find what you need, first sort the files by the tag name by clicking on the tag tab, which will sort it in alphabetical order. Scroll until you get to the SNAP tags, which will hold what you want.

How it should look like: Notice the SNAP at the tag category.

Thanks so much for the help! I'm very happy to have started my Sim's page but I'm having some issues with the picture. I downloaded s3pe but my cpmputer says I need some other download or something to use it. I also tried taking a picture of my sim in the CAS but the picture appearently did not save to my laucher. I have no clue what to do next :P Also

I've found where to look at a saved sim (My Document -> Electronic Arts -> Sims 3 -> Libary). I have a ton of files there that I cannot open and here is the error message that shows up when I try to open s3pe.

Also (sorry for all the questions) I can't seem to edot the green character box for my fanon sim and her children have disappeared from it.

Sorry to budge in like this but maybe try checking in (Documents-Electronic Arts-Sims 3- Screenshots) if you took a picture of your sim in CAS. You can open the picture in Paint. :) Its just a thoughtful advice. Starmoonie 20:43, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Speaking of the .NET 3.5 Framework, all you need to do is to get it: it should be easily accessible, just google it. As Starmoonie had mentioned (and probably made what I mentioned unclearly clear) you could use the screenshot folder, but s3pe is the way to get the headshot picture. With the library folder, what it stores is the saved custom family (in the bin) and the custom lots that you've bothered to save to the library for use. Thanks I'll look for it but I still can't edit Meredith's chacrter box properly. Whenecer I go into Edit mode all there is a green puzzle piece and when i click a botton that says "edit" there very little it actually lets my edit. I can't add her children. Well you didn't pick an easy one for me to answer. Well I picked a a sencero I wanted: A wife for the Grim Reaper. Then put together traits of someone who would being crazy enough to marry Mr.Death. Then I simply continued my game. Named her kids the way she would, lear what skills I though she would want, ect. Honestly It's easy said than done. If it helps I usually base characters (Sim fanon and others) off of characters in movies, shows and books. Hope that helps! (If you do create a fanon page I would love to take a look!)

Rebecca Goth

So, Rebecca Goth is real -- like, for real? All this time we haven't had enough reliable source for that statement. Can you explain more about her, like who she is, whether she's a townie or NPC or what, how she's like, her connection or influence to other families in that game, or anything? Honestly I don't know. I was just updating pages and connecting information. If you want to know more about her (which may be hard since I believe she is unplayable) I would see if someone has the Sims 3: Pets (for console) to do some research on her.

Re:Categories

You can look on the right side of a page when you edit the page. The categories section will be at the bottom and you can remove and add there. Sometimes you can't edit the categories because they are automatically placed there if there is something on the page giving it it's category. If you want I can check the pages you want to edit the categories and see if there is something I can do, other than that I or you can ask another admin for some more info. :) Starmoonie(Talk Here) 01:43, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

The Good Ones

Hi Freedom! This is Pidgeoraptor7! I'm writing a Fanon story, called The Good Ones. I was thinking, would it be okay if I used Nisha Slayer, one of your Fanons, in my story? I get that at this point in time, she is a child, but in Of the Night, Jessica Talon is also a child. Therefore, she would age up to a young adult at the time of my story. If you let me, great! Yay! Thanks so much Freedom! I've been a fan of your Fanons as soon as I signed up, and I hope that including Nisha in one of mine will make it more interesting: a collaboration of sorts. If I was to include Nisha in The Good Ones, I would most likely have Nisha just be Pierce VanPyre's, the main protagonist, friend. The whole purpose of the story is how the original Bridgeport vampires fight the newer, more corrupt, vampires, and Nisha would play a role in helping them defeat the "Bad Ones". Undoing your userpage

Hi, Freedom! I saw that you reverted your page, which turned out to revert all your edits to its original state. I undid your revert before you added the Goth template because I suppose you did that accidentally. Please note that you should use the rollback button with care when doing it in your subpages or userpage, because it's mostly only edited by yourself. Categories

That's okay, I see. I prefer that way because we can easily head to the trait page from the category page, as it appears at the topmost section in the category. Nikel _{Talk – Vote!} 02:41, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

Well, true... You can add it to the page as well. But I prefer attaching the category rather than editing the category page. :/ Some categories have a main article, let's say Category:Traits and Category:Pets. We can tell that Trait (The Sims 3) and Pet would be the main topics related to the categories, respectively, and both pages are categorized there as well. Usually categories have descriptions, but some others are usually forgotten to be included. Adding categories seems to be more practical than checking every category that hasn't had descriptions, and this has been done since long as well. RE:Abandoned "fanons"

Hmm, I can see that there's still blind spot in the policy. IMO, only admins are supposed to review fanons (or those who are reliable to help), and authors aren't supposed to put an abandoned tag in their own fanons. The critical case is that they try to tag their fanons as abandoned to protect them from being a stub. If the fanon is clearly a stub or require cleanup, the abandoned tag should be completely void. In other words, reviews should always be involved with admins.

Notice about the Warning template

Hello fellow administrator. I wanted to make you aware of an upcoming changeover regarding the {{Warning}} template. You can see the discussion of this change here.

Starting now, a new warning template will be available for use. This template is currently available at {{NewWarning}}. However, on April 2, the new warning template will be moved to {{Warning}} and the old warning template will be retired. Please use this transition period to test out the new template before the full changeover. In the period leading up to the changeover, please report any bugs or issues, and offer any suggestions, in the new template discussion

The new template does away with the <reason> parameter of the old template. You can now make your warning more specific by filling in the <type> parameter. Type will automatically load in text depending on the type and the level you select. Additionally, certain types have multiple 'levels', ranging from 1 to 3, with 1 being the least severe, and 3 being the most severe phrasing of the warning message itself. The types are:

• Vandalism (entered as 'vandal#') warns against making non-constructive edits. The 'vandal1' message is the template's default message if no type is entered.
• Blanking pages or sections (entered as 'blank#') warns against removing content from entire pages or sections of pages.
• Removing content (entered as 'remove#') warns against removing useful and accurate content from pages.
• Violating file policy (entered as 'file#') warns users that upload files or images in violation of the Image and File policy.
• Disruptive behavior (entered as 'disrupt') warns users that attack other users, engage in edit warring, etc.
• Sockpuppetry (entered as 'sock') warns users that are suspected of having control over multiple unauthorized accounts.
• Additionally, there is a custom option available if none of the pre-existing types suit your needs. If you choose to use a custom message, the <type> parameter should be set to 'custom' and the optional <custom> parameter will hold your message. If <type> says anything other than 'custom' and the <custom> parameter is filled in, the custom message will not display.

So, to sum it up, the parameters are:

<type>: You should fill this parameter in, unless you're alright with displaying the default, non-specific warning text.

<custom>: Fill this in only if you've filled in 'custom' under the <type> parameter; otherwise, leave this blank.

<sig>: This parameter is mandatory - include your signature here.

<other>: If you want to include additional information to the recipient, you can fill in this parameter. The text you enter will appear below your signature but above the 'boilerplate' message at the bottom of the notification.

One last thing... remember to substitute the template, just as you do when you use {{Warning}}. This is to ensure that any future changes to the template don't alter how it appears on user talk pages.
