RE: RE: Licensing Images[edit source]

Is it just me or does it sometimes play up too. Like, it won't work, sometimes, but the invalid image licensing probably was because it wouldn't work correctly, and again, I am so sorry. :( -- DevlyHallows ~ (Inform me here) 17:48, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

AFAIK, Wikia have had a bug for a year or so that has messed up licensing. It appears to come and go. I remember a time where a lot of users were getting the standard "license your images" message because of this so yeah it can mess things up on the administrative perspective. :/ Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 18:40, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

Admin projects[edit source]

Hello, firstly once again I'd just like to thank you for nominating me for administrator :)

Secondly I wanted to ask about admin projects, and it seemed like you were the one to ask as you are deemed the manager of them. I wanted to ask what you have to do in it, and if you think (because you were my nominator) that there were any that suited me best.

Sorry if this sounds weird, I have seen users be stripped of their admin status because they hadn't chosen a project, and I don't want that happening to me! :D ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 06:21, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

It's cool! :)
As for the APs, they're honestly pretty dead down to numerous reasons but to keep things short: some projects had little to do anyway, interaction within projects had dropped and patrolling the activity of these projects had also died as a result. I've tried either killing the system completely or thinking of a spiritual successor but nothing has come to avail and as it is, new admins are just being added to projects "for the sake of it".
I doubt anybody would care too much if you weren't added to a project based on their current status - those desysoppings from long ago were kind of activity-based too and I feel as long as one is active then what's to worry about. That said if you do have two things you would like to add yourself to then feel free to do so.
Hope this helps! Good luck with the tools and such. :) Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 22:22, March 14, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for your help! I'll just stay put for the time being. ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 10:35, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Hi![edit source]

I wondered how you customised the top part of your info bar, to show a different message for your userpage, to talkpage etc. And, the 'likes' thing, is cool. How did you do that?

Thanks in advance,

WayfinderOwl (talk) 00:28, March 18, 2013 (UTC)

I just used {{Title}} and added the custom parameter. For example, my talk page is using {{Title|You have arrived at the <s>abuse</s> talk section!}} to look how it is. As for the likes code, I'm using a personal template which you're welcome to steal. Mine just says {{User:Lost Labyrinth/Templates:Like|[[Special:MyPage|{{username}}]] and {{NUMBEROFACTIVEUSERS}} other users like this.}} to look as it is. Just plop those wherever, customise them to your heart's content and enjoy! :) Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 00:32, March 18, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! :D I will use them. I saw them when around the time I joined the wiki, and always wanted to know how to add them.

Notice about the Warning template[edit source]

Hello fellow administrator. I wanted to make you aware of an upcoming changeover regarding the {{Warning}} template. You can see the discussion of this change here.

Starting now, a new warning template will be available for use. This template is currently available at {{NewWarning}}. However, on April 2, the new warning template will be moved to {{Warning}} and the old warning template will be retired. Please use this transition period to test out the new template before the full changeover. In the period leading up to the changeover, please report any bugs or issues, and offer any suggestions, in the new template discussion

The new template does away with the <reason> parameter of the old template. You can now make your warning more specific by filling in the <type> parameter. Type will automatically load in text depending on the type and the level you select. Additionally, certain types have multiple 'levels', ranging from 1 to 3, with 1 being the least severe, and 3 being the most severe phrasing of the warning message itself. The types are:

  • Vandalism (entered as 'vandal#') warns against making non-constructive edits. The 'vandal1' message is the template's default message if no type is entered.
  • Blanking pages or sections (entered as 'blank#') warns against removing content from entire pages or sections of pages.
  • Removing content (entered as 'remove#') warns against removing useful and accurate content from pages.
  • Violating file policy (entered as 'file#') warns users that upload files or images in violation of the Image and File policy.
  • Disruptive behavior (entered as 'disrupt') warns users that attack other users, engage in edit warring, etc.
  • Sockpuppetry (entered as 'sock') warns users that are suspected of having control over multiple unauthorized accounts.
  • Additionally, there is a custom option available if none of the pre-existing types suit your needs. If you choose to use a custom message, the <type> parameter should be set to 'custom' and the optional <custom> parameter will hold your message. If <type> says anything other than 'custom' and the <custom> parameter is filled in, the custom message will not display.

So, to sum it up, the parameters are:

<type>: You should fill this parameter in, unless you're alright with displaying the default, non-specific warning text.
<custom>: Fill this in only if you've filled in 'custom' under the <type> parameter; otherwise, leave this blank.
<sig>: This parameter is mandatory - include your signature here.
<other>: If you want to include additional information to the recipient, you can fill in this parameter. The text you enter will appear below your signature but above the 'boilerplate' message at the bottom of the notification.

One last thing... remember to substitute the template, just as you do when you use {{Warning}}. This is to ensure that any future changes to the template don't alter how it appears on user talk pages.

If you've got any questions about this new warning or its implementations, feel free to drop me a message. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:10, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

Origin[edit source]

Hello, I was suggested by Nikel if I needed information about Origin, to ask you. I've heard lots of bad stories about Origin and its security flaws, but I've also heard that some have found no problem with it. In your opinion, is Origin safe?Kajune (talk) 21:28, March 26, 2013 (UTC)

I haven't used Origin extensively enough to prove anything but its forced DRM and recording of usage statistics is off-putting. I don't know too much about the security flaws of Origin but I know it can be pretty invasive, if given the choice I'd go for Steam - it's a lot nicer. RE: Your sysop flags[edit source]

I've decided to return after a long undesirable break from logging in here. I understand though my sysop flags has been revoked (If I'd recognized it, I should've reacted fast). Justme13[edit source]

Hi,

I am an administrator at Avatar Wiki, and one of the admins here has informed me that you have blocked Justme because you say he is underage - may I ask how you found out as he has made no edits on your wiki? {{SUBST:User:PSUAvatar14/Sig5}} 03:22, April 11, 2013 (UTC)

He was in the chat at one point and made a statement about his age that was fairly suspicious and also this. He apparently made a couple of edits to a deleted forum as well, so yeah he was part of this wiki. ђ talk 04:04, April 11, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for that information; though we probably can't do anything on our end as that was months ago, and there's no way of saying if he's had a birthday since then. {{SUBST:User:PSUAvatar14/Sig5}} 00:12, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Adopt a user[edit source]

Hi,

I was looking around this wikia and i found this. I added the userbox to my page. Also it seems kind of dead as Bakerychaz has been retired for a long time. So i was wondering could you adopt me or is it out of date. And if it isn't why isn't it easy to acces like Help:Talk page which i had to search up to find it.

I would be greatful if you could reply 😄 Blue12porcupine (talk)😄 11:41, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

I'll happily take you on. Feel free to replace the userbox on your page with {{User adopted|Lost Labyrinth}} if you want. As for the ease of access issue, I do remember adding it to the welcome message, though I'm not sure if it's clear enough (personally the whole thing could do with a re-write). Feel free to prod me when need be. Hope to see you around! :) Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 11:47, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
Okay thanks, now i got one of my goals complete yay. So how does it exactly work? It didn't say on the page. I would like to know how to create a cool signature. 😄 Blue12porcupine (talk)😄 12:03, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
I'm basically that guy who guides you along the way I guess. As for the signature, you can utilise a variety of HTML and CSS to get something cool. Try finding an example, playing around with it a bit (like changing the font, colours etc.) and seeing how it looks. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 12:09, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
Hi again, i search on the web and found this. It helped so much. Look how cool my signature looks like. Mabey someone should add it somwhere on the wikia. I think wikia could do with more things on getting started. Heres my new signature ->

I was just updating my page and a mysterious white box apeared and i can't get rid of it and also the writing on the userbox bit went missing. I don't know whats wrong with it. Could you have a look at it?

(resetting ident) Looks like a code issue. I've fixed it for you. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 18:57, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, again. Sorry i have't been on lately i was wondering how do you make a userbox? Also could you check out my fourm on comunity discusion. Blue12porcupine talk 18:32, May 1, 2013 (UTC)
From a quick observation, you've kinda got it with the creations. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 10:59, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, that was after the post, i had to dig around the wikia for an hour before finding it, you need an easire way of finding it. Do you like the porcupine one, i going to do some for my favorite fanons and so featured ones. Blue12porcupine talk 16:02, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

No. Your blog counted as spam and you abused the comment system with even more nonsense to compound onto your already misleading blog. I've also noticed you've had another blog deleted for a similar purpose as well as a warning for vandalism. Keep it up and expect your name to be attached to a TSW:ER entry. Images of Castaway Stories Sims[edit source]

Hi there! I was wondering if you could add

Copyright by EA|simcs|a Sim from Castaway Stories

to this MediaWiki page, because I found that when I upload images of The Sims Castaway Stories Sims there is no option to choose a Sim from Castaway Stories (there's only for Pet Stories and Life Stories). I had to add the category later "manualy" and delete the option I picked initally (if you understand what I mean), so I thought it could be quicker if that option was added. Anyway, thanks in advance! Cavia (wheek speak) 18:43, May 1, 2013 (UTC)

Done. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 11:00, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much! So, just to sum it up, when I choose the option 'a Sim from The Sims Castaway Stories' when uploading a file, the category Images of Castaway Stories Sims will automatically be added to the file? Cavia (wheek speak) 14:35, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Yep. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 19:48, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Oops, sorry. Totally forgot about that. I guess I was too excited at the moment. You can delete if you want, it was just something about the code on The Sims 4 website. I won't make these blogs again. Cavia (wheek speak) 10:42, May 14, 2013 (UTC)

The Sims 4 uses the Frostbite 3 Engine. Here is proof.[edit source]

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2347076&s=924b9f473ad050b3130942484f66d621 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donny Macho (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

That tells me absolutely nothing to say that TS4 is using the Battlefield 4 engine, not to mention that the engine has ridiculously high system requirements anyway. EA have already stated they're trying to get TS4 running on as many PCs as possible. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 20:52, May 14, 2013 (UTC)
Why are you being a psheudo-intellectual? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donny Macho (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
What? It doesn't take a genius to realise that every game to date to use Frostbite has very high system requirements. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 21:13, May 14, 2013 (UTC)

I am sorry. I wish to redeem myself.[edit source]

I was wrong. I was mean. This is why I have no freinds. I want to be noticed. I want to be loved. I want people to think of me good. Please forgive me. I dont want to be bad boy any more. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Donny Macho (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

No apology necessary. As long as you've learned from your shortcomings and as long as you try not to get yourself into that situation again then all is good. :)
Just one other thing. Mind using four tildes (~~~~) after you leave a message? It makes message tracking much easier. Thanks. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 21:53, May 14, 2013 (UTC)

Fanon:Uncle Derek's Will[edit source]

I have read The Diner Guy multiple times, and I really love the way you write. I was wondering if you could contribute to Uncle Derek. It's that type of fanon with multiple users writing chapters. If you'd like to join, then we must discuss. Hurshbr (talk) 20:08, May 15, 2013 (UTC)Hurshbr

Editing a shared fanon[edit source]

I am working with Blue12porcupine on this, but I can't edit because it doesn't belong to me. I talked to Mathetesalexandrou, and he redirected me to you. Could you let me past? Me!-Bwahaha! 17:06, May 23, 2013 (UTC)Hurshbr

You're being caught by a filter aimed to prevent users editing the userspace belonging to others. The filter was put into place deliberately as edits to userpages of other users were becoming problematic, but thanks to the minority who decided to disregard TSW:UPP, there is now some collateral damage.
As for the fanon, can't you just write it in the Fanon namespace, slap an {{Evolve}} template on it and work on it from there? It won't be deleted as long as it's being updated and/or it's fairly good quality. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 17:13, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Adopt a User, continued[edit source]

Hi, its been quiet a while since I asked you anything. Do you think I have graduated from the adoption thing? I have have nearly 350 edits and I got the hang of things here. I managed to make userboxes, a cool signature, a nice userpage, some fanons, contributed to other wikis and other things. I also helped the wiki in some ways. What do you think? Also do you like my userpage? Blue12porcupine talk 11:00, May 26, 2013 (UTC)

Whoa, you seem to be progressing faster than I had anticipated. You appear to understand past the basics of general wiki editing from a quick look around and your grammar seems to have improved. If we're talking about the general stuff here, I'd say you're there. :) Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 14:45, May 26, 2013 (UTC)

Pictures[edit source]

Hi :) I was just wondering if you knew how people got their pictures with clear backgrounds. Is it a special format or do you do something to th picture beforhand? Chunkyheels (talk ) 19:32, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

Do you mean transparent pictures? If so then you can create a GIF or a PNG file using something like Photoshop or GIMP by adding an alpha channel to the background image. It's pretty easy to do in GIMP, which is a free tool. Just take the white background, right click > Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel then use the Magic Wand tool, highlight the white background, delete it then export the image and you'll have transparency. Hope this helps! Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 19:39, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
