RE: Friendly Hello![edit source]

Hi! I'm glad you find it interesting. :) I couldn't get to finish it due to the large amount of opportunities in World Adventures and Ambitions, and I've been quite busy irl too. The repetitive opportunity patterns in World Adventures exhausted me very much, but I hoped that after these 2 EPs are done, I could finish the rest opportunities with a better pace.

As for your questions:

  1. I read the game data that contains all the details of every opportunity. That way I could get all the requirements and everything that are otherwise unable to be revealed in-game. If you know how to mod, I could explain it to you if you want.
  2. I honestly didn't experience every single opportunity I listed there. I could use MasterController to trigger most opportunities, but I didn't do trial-and-error work here. I could recall I experienced some of these opportunities, but for some others, I just believe they exist based on the game strings and opportunity details.

Cool! So you need S3PE to open the game files. For opportunities to be exact, go to <your installation folder>\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\Gameplay, and open GameplayData.package. There, find the XML files named "Opportunities_BaseGame" through "Opportunities_EP11". Each of these holds the opportunity details. Right click the XML, and choose Text Editor / Notepad.
The details are written in XML, and the information you get there might not be obvious, so you'll need to get acquainted with it. Let me know if my explanation is unclear. Nikel Talk Vote! 11:56, June 21, 2017 (UTC)
By convention, if we're still talking about the same topic, we edit the same section then indent the next message like what I'm doing now. You should press the edit button next to the section header. The string is kind of tricky though.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
  1. First, decide the opportunity key, such as MilitaryCareer_BigEvent. Use search until you find the <OpportunityName> tag. Copy the value.
  2. In S3PE, select FNV Hash (Ctrl+F), insert "Gameplay/Excel/Opportunities/Names:" with the value you just copied. Then, select and copy the FNV64 value. Write it down.
  3. After that, open <your installation folder>\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\Packages\FullBuild0.package. Find the STBL file named something like "Strings_ENG_US_0x000f16b00ba8342f". Copy all the strings in the preview in put it in a text editor. Now, search for the value you got from the FNV64, and you get the opportunity name. The same method can be used for other opportunity strings, such as the description or completion text.

For career opportunities, the requirements are stored in a separate XML. In the same package, look for CareerEvents.xml. You can find the level cap details there. There's also tag <Likelihood>, but the value there is not percentage. So a likelihood of 0.2 is not 20%, but it's easier to say that it's more likely to occur than an event with likelihood of, say, 0.05.
To simplify your other question, you could refer to military opportunity page, "Promoting the Military". <EventListenerInfo1>kVisitedRabbitHole</EventListenerInfo1> means that you have to visit <TargetData>BusinessAndJournalism</TargetData> rabbit hole to fulfill the goals, and the opportunity is completed by going to work (<CompletionEvent>kWentToWork</CompletionEvent>). <TargetInteractionName>Military_AttendEventnteraction</TargetInteractionName> is the interaction that needs to be done in that rabbit hole, namely "Promote Military". To find the interaction name, you can use the same method as finding the opportunity name I've explained before. Nikel Talk Vote! 07:29, June 30, 2017 (UTC)
I've no idea how did you figure that out but you're amazing! But I think I will have some more questions about tags :| MakBash (talk) 16:31, June 30, 2017 (UTC)
