Welcome[edit source]

Hi, and welcome to The Sims Wiki, Bafendo! Thanks for your edit to the The Sims 3: Ambitions page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything about the wiki! (If you have questions about the game, please ask them in the Forum.) -- A morris (Talk) 16:52, 2010 March 25

Bafendo

Hi, Do You Want To Make The 3rd Expansion Pack For The Sims 3? Ask Us Back From The Sims Team xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

your problem[edit source]

Please don't be rude. I have put a confirmtion note on it. If you need to discuss anything, please go to the discussion page or the forum. If you need to look at the templates, when making new sim pages, go to the community Portal. Thank you. Archie 23:59, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

i'm sorry. i just read that fourm with that post. once again i apologize. i guess they decided to rename it since it's 25 years before sims 1 and wanted a different name. once again very sorry. also next time you add new info cite your sources please. that's the only reason why i acted that way. for the final time i apologize. also.... i wonder why simbot is cheaper than the teleportation pad?

My fault. I forgot to include the ref tags the first time I made the change. Sorry guys. (Kiwi tea 01:28, May 13, 2010 (UTC))

Sims 3 game engine[edit source]

I see you removed the {{fact}} from the Renderware on Late Night. I've researched the subject a bit and I can't find a single mention that The Sims 3 is using this engine, see Wikipedia:RenderWare. Duskey(talk) 12:07, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

It's fact that The Sims game are using renderware. EA bought renderware a few years ago and they still use it in the Sims games.

Do you have a link to this fact? Duskey(talk) 12:36, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

i went ahead and removed renderware as the engine but i can't find anything that says what the actual engine is. and in the two current expansion and loft stuff all three list renderware as the game engine. should be removed on those too.

i looked around and found an early interview about the base game. EA uses an inhouse engine created in-house for the sims 3. [1]

I think i heard this on G4 around the release of the base game too. this is the same thing R* did. Bafendo 12:58, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

That link gave me a fake virus pop-up. Duskey(talk) 13:35, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

strange. AVG showed it as a safe site. but it does make sence. Rockstar created a game engine in-house for their games so EA doing the same thing is smart. Bafendo 13:49, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

I can agree to calling it 'The Sims 3 Engine', but I don't think it has a name per say. Maybe they use one internally but we have no idea what that is. Duskey(talk) 14:14, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

oh cool. well i'll let you put that in unless it's ok if i do. needs to be done on world adventures, loft stuff and ambitions pages too. also, i've cited the sims 2 apartment life in that sentence that list the games that have elements in Late Night. Bafendo 14:21, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Late Night box placeholder[edit source]

Good work on restoring the placeholder. In the future however you can just revert to the old version on the file page instead of uploading a new picture. Duskey(talk) 20:58, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

I reuploaded the box art you found at the original file location (File:SimsLateNightArt-PC-Pack-Art.jpg) instead of as a new file. Other pages link to the image as well. I saw you chose the category: 'Images of Late Night Sims' for it while it should've been 'Box Art' a little further down the list. Duskey(talk) 09:22, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your images[edit source]

We appreciate the images you've contributed to the wiki, however it seems you forgot to add some things to them. The images in question are:

Licensing: All images must have their licensing information added. If the image is from The Sims series of games or contains the PlumbBob, it is copyrighted to EA. Add {{Copyright by EA}}.
If you've made the image yourself, you need to decide on the license. The Sims Wiki recommends a Creative Commons license. Unless stated otherwise the image will be assumed to be under the CC-BY-SA license.
See Category:Copyright tags for a list of available copyright options.

Categories: All images must be put in a category. You can browse image categories to find the correct one. In most cases, your image should only be included into one category and only be put in Category:Images if there is no other place to put it.
See Help:Category for more information.

It would also be sweet if you added the source for the image when it's taken from other sites.

If you have any further questions about this message or this wiki, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Duskey(talk) 13:17, August 14, 2010 (UTC) thanks Duskey.Bafendo 17:53, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

Remember categories[edit source]

Hey Bafendo, remember to add a category to the images you upload. Many of them belong in Category:Late Night. Duskey(talk) 21:42, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

where did you find the box art? Bafendo 09:42, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Because I'm from Lithuania, I found it in our website www.thesims.lt

Edit wars[edit source]

I'd like to thank you for undoing the unconstructive edits on The Sims 3: Late Night, but in order to avoid Edit Wars you should notify an administrator if another user persists and possibly discuss the changes with the user. A long history page of edits back and forth helps no one. Undo the first time, discuss and/or report to an admin the second time. In this particular case, I'm already on it :) Duskey(talk) 20:22, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Oh ok, thanks Duskey.Bafendo 20:28, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Deleting images[edit source]

When you remove images from an article, remember to mark them for deletion if they're not being used then by adding {{Delete|<reason>}}. In the case of the renders on the Late Night page, they're duplicates which means they're Candidates for speedy deletion, marked by {{Speedydelete|<Duplicate file>}}. Duskey(talk) 04:44, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

Trampoline image[edit source]

Why did you remove the image gallery on the trampoline page? Duskey(talk) 12:45, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

you mean (Sims on a Trampoline)? it's one pic. and it doesn't show a sim on a trampoline just a sim looking up and looking excited. that pic is all i deleted. Bafendo 19:14, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, while the trampoline isn't visible the Sim is going upwards. I don't have any more pictures of Sims on trampolines, but I thought it'd be nice to have some. Duskey(talk) 19:17, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry Duskey. Please don't be mad. I'll take a few pics later of one and two sims on a trampoline and one when they fall off and add them to yours. once again i am sorry. please don't ban me for my screw up. i keep messed, i won't edit this wiki anymore Bafendo 19:23, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
There's no need for that, no harm done. Wikis are made so you can't actually delete anything :D I'm certainly not going to ban you since you've done nothing wrong. In the future though, if you dislike or disagree with a particular edit of an article you can always start a discussion on the talk page of the article and invite whoever made the edit. I hope you do contribute again. Duskey(talk) 20:06, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Fact template[edit source]

Please do not remove {{fact}} if you do not add a reference in its place. Unsourced statements on titles under development must be supplied with a reference or at the very least the 'fact' template. Should you have any questions about this message, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Any other questions about this wiki should be posted at our Help desk. Duskey(talk) 13:22, August 31, 2010 (UTC).

Tables and references[edit source]

Thanks for the music contributions to the Late Night page. I assume you're using the Rich text editor. Do you check off any "top align" buttons when you do so? When I edit your table contributions on that page in code view, there's a lot of unneccesary valign="top" code.

Also, you should have a look at Help:Cite to see how to use the <ref> tags instead of inserting the URL reference directly.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Duskey(talk) 14:25, September 3, 2010 (UTC)

Late Night game icons[edit source]

Where have you found the LN game icons? They seem quite different in color. --Duskeytalk 10:26, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

one place is "http://superthesims.socjum.pl/blog/pokaz_wpis/87". other is EdenStyle and SimsCri. both have posted pics they both took of gameplay and from a video by EdenStyle. In build and buy mode the second icon (the one i added to the late night page) is the same one as the one on the Late Night build and buy mode stuff pics. Bafendo 13:20, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Deleting comments on talk pages[edit source]

Please don't remove comments from discussion pages, like you did on Talk:The_Sims_3:_Late_Night; even if you disagree with what someone says, or someone is incorrect in a statement. The better action would be for you to post a kind response to the original poster, countering their statement and, if possible, providing citation to back up your claims. As a result, the reversion you made to that talk page has been undone.

It is generally unacceptable to delete content from talk pages, unless that content violates any of the wiki's policies. If you have any questions regarding this or any other issues, please leave me a message on my talk page. Thank You. -- Patrick (LostInRiverview) (talk)(blog)(random page) 05:09, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Images[edit source]

The images you recently uploaded can go in Category:Late Night since there's no where else to put them at the moment. --Duskeytalk 20:09, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

RE: Calientes Sisters[edit source]

I don't know. And isn't is "Caliente sisters" with an S at the end of Caliente? --Duskeytalk 00:48, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

i didn't start that topic on your talk page. i just added to it. on the Sims 3 FB page it says Caliente Sisters. i guess after they are done updating the store tonight i'll buy Barnacle Bay and we'll find out.Bafendo 00:52, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sorry. --Duskeytalk 01:06, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Achievements[edit source]

I'm concerned, too. I was not notified of this, and was taken by surprise when I visited. You can turn the display off in your Preferences; the option is on the Misc. tab. Dharden (talk) 16:26, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

ETA: I have it turned off, so I don't see it on my pages, but I don't know what anyone else would see. Could you please check and let me know? Dharden (talk) 16:28, October 25, 2010 (UTC)
It worked. Thanks! :)

Image Licensing[edit source]

I won't upload anymore pictures, because for one, I didn't know that you needed to add copyright, everyone knows its from EA - anyway. So anyway, I won't continue to add pictures.

Soymilkee 22:44, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

I am also new, so I am still learning. Give me time... and if I continue, let an admin tell me.

Soymilkee 22:56, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

you can add pictures you just have to add that EA thing too. i'm not being mean i'm trying to help you. eventhough people know it's belongs to EA we have to put that stuff there for legal reasons. without it Wikia could get sued and that would ruin it for everyone. if you need me to explain how to do this i will help you learn. after you upload an image. right click that image and open it in a new tab or window, when you do this all you should see is a page with that image and a few options. at the top will be edit page. click that and then next where it says normal next to the bold button. click that and a menu opens up. select heading 2 and type "Licensing" then press enter. After you press enter type {{Copyright by EA}} exactly how it looks here with those funny looking brackets an uppercase "C" and EA uppercase too. then the brackets again. then click preview to make sure the template will show that EA copyright info. if it does at the bottom either click save or type in that box next to that "added licensing" and save.

We love that you wanna help this wiki. and i was like you when i first found this wiki. if you ever get lost Duskey and Dharden or LostInRiverview can are admins and they know a lot more than i do. but i can still help on some things. i hope my walkthrough helped.Bafendo 00:42, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

May you tell me how to add copyright then? :)

Re: The Sims 3 SP3/Outdoor Living Stuff[edit source]

I agree. I don't think Amazon would offer it for pre-order unless there was going to be something to ship. Dharden (talk) 15:25, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

For now, I'd say to leave it on the rumors page. It's probably for real, but I'd prefer to see something from EA before we run with it. Dharden (talk) 06:32, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Edit Warring[edit source]

Hey Bafendo! Could you please stop adding "fake box art" to the picture? Its has not been confirmed or unconfirmed to be fake. Thanks! BobNewbie talkblog 12:45, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Don't take it the wrong way! I'm not trying to be rude. The picture was shown on Snooty Sims, and Amazon.com is advertising it. We should at least consider that this could possibly be the next SP. Or, its at least a rumor. But there is no proof that that picture is real or fake, so we should just say: Possible Box Art. Ok? BobNewbie talkblog 12:52, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

The Sims Medieval[edit source]

Are you going to buy Medieval, because if not say me how do you take pictures of traits from The Sims 3, because I don't know how to do it and we are going to need them for new pages and userboxes, you're the one of few people who can do it, thank you so much for reading :D! --Guilherme Guerreiro (talk here) 16:08, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Could ask you something? Have you found images for The Sims Medieval traits? Thank you! --Guilherme Guerreiro (talk here) 19:21, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Thinking of leaving[edit source]

and it's all because of the way EA treats us. They still have yet to fix their games and i can't stand it anymore. They may have recently admitted to milking their game franchises but that doesn't change anything. we already knew they do it and they will never stop. I can no longer give money to a company that does NOT listen to their customers and that only cares about quantity over quality. One reason why i will always love Nintendo and Rockstar, they listen and understand. EA sucks and soon i might delete my account on the sims wiki. been fun but all these bugs and glitches has ruined the Sims for me that and Societies ruined SimCity thus i bid the farewell.--Bafendo 15:40, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Re: EP4 and EP5/Console EP1[edit source]

At first glance, I'd say that the release of official trailers would be confirmation. Still, it couldn't hurt to wait a few days to make sure. Dharden (talk) 17:26, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Bafendo :)! Hello again! I would like to ask if you know where are The Sims Medieval trait images because I would like to update them onto Sims Wiki. Thank you. --Guilherme Guerreiro (talk here) 16:00, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
Do you know any site where I can find the images of traits from THe Sims Medieval? Thank you. --Guilherme Guerreiro (talk here) 16:05, March 27, 2011 (UTC)
usually they would have been released in a press release by EA or EA in Europe. I and a few others on the different news sites still haven't got anything with them. sorry.Bafendo 16:07, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

RE: Release Date for TS3 Pets[edit source]

The infobox isn't protected or anything, the parameter was simply incorrect. It should have been typed as release, not released. I think it might have been changed at the refreshing of templates, so I might have to go through all the templates and fix this. Thanks for bringing it up! --WH (talk) 03:24, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Extra Info[edit source]

Hi, when i look at new master suite stuff page, im thinking that the page just minim with info. so i look back at the past expansion and stuff pack page and i found that some of the page have a complete info and all written there, but also some of it have a complete info but it is not written there. so i decide to complete all info on each expansion and stuff pack, i feel this wiki will be more better if the information on all of the article is completed. so when user here looking for information, they got it right away and no need to browse to another page to got that info.

about the images and video on the sims 3 pets page, i notice that the page tagged with clean up template, so there is a problem on that page. i found that the page is too crowded with images and video, for example there is 16 videos on 1 page, too many picture and video will make the page harder and longer to load for user with limited connection. this is already happen on the sims 3 page, so i decide to split the page. i create a new page for the picture and video, just like the sims 3 page. with that i see the main the sims 3 pets page is more clean and i hope if user with limited connection try to see the article they will meet no problem. :) Wir.wiryawan 11:52, November 9, 2011 (UTC)

RE: Thanks![edit source]

no need to say thanks, it is my job to do that. btw if you find a page need to be tidy up, just tell me. :) Wir.wiryawan 12:52, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

Picture[edit source]

Hi, do you have The Sims FreePlay and The Sims 3: Master Suite Stuff picture bigger then 640x480? because an image with 673x410 pixel needed to update the slider in the main page. I'm boring see the dog for 1 or 2 month... lol Wiryawan310 14:41, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind, I already got it... lol
but if you have a better picture tell me ok :D Wiryawan310 15:04, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Licensing images[edit source]

Hi there, I've noticed that some of the images that you have uploaded did not have any form of license or categorisation. I have added a license and a category to your images but in the future, you should do it yourself. The arrow shows where the licensing menu is on the upload screen, so you can easily scroll down and pick an appropriate license for that image. If for some reason clicking on the license doesn't work, hover over a tab on the drop down and copy exactly what comes up into the description box. Thanks! Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 19:35, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Featured template[edit source]

The reason why Featured template is on the bottom and not in the top of the page is because the page already an era template on the top of the page that show that the article is a featured article. if you see on the top right of the page there is a small star. But if you want to suggest it on the top of the page, feel free to contact A morris or RoseGui, they are in the charge in the featured article :) Wiryawan310 16:23, December 20, 2011 (UTC)

The word 'Gay'[edit source]

I saw your tweet on Twitter, as well as Wogan's response to it and your message on his talk page and I wanted to make sure this issue was resolved ASAP. The issue is that the word 'gay' was included in this wiki's Abuse Filter, which is an extension that blocks edits if they trigger certain flags, one of them being a use of profanity. Somehow the word 'gay' had ended up on the list of flagged words, but upon revelation of this issue I have gone into the Filter and have removed the word from it, as evidenced by the fact that I am able to use the word in this edit (the filter stops admin edits too).

I was unaware of this issue until you brought it up. Had I known about it sooner I would have removed it, because we've long since passed the point where that term could even reasonably be considered offensive (at least, in any civilized country, but I'm from the US, so maybe not :p). Additionally, as a gay man, I would have had issue with the wiki that I work on choosing to treat me and my orientation as 'profane'. Despite some heated discussions over on the Same-sex relationships vote, I do honestly believe that the majority of people here are very open and welcoming to everyone and would never be deliberately homophobic.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please leave me a message. -- LiR speak ~ read 16:16, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks man! So happy this has now been resolved! Hey, I'm also in the US. Stuck in lame Texas and also a gay man. Still, thanks for looking into this and providing a resolution. I, The Black Scorpion of SimPrograms am very happy now. :)--The Black Scorpion (talk) 16:34, October 10, 2012 (UTC)
