Should we not update the Featured Fanon/Author segment? Tabber again

lol, I was a bit surprised why an anon would ask about that. Technically, it sorts the page in the category so that Fanon:Karoline Uptown, for example, will be listed in U (last name, first name), instead of F, due to the namespace. Question

Hi, Im new to 'The Sims Wiki' (I have been on for Three days) and I've got the Sims 3 console. Now I was wondering since i Made Mario Oliver (My sim in the game). I made a new family (The Sunners Family) And I was wondering if i can put it onto the '"New families" list (If it's OK with you!)

RE: Fanon Tagging

You know, I think I've kinda overdone it a bit. IMO, we shouldn't compare it to townies page, because fanons shouldn't be left in the middle of its story. Like, what if they've just even started and the next 2 months never come again? But I do agree that I shouldn't be doing too much tags. How about IRC? Can we discuss it there? Archive expansion

I think I might've mentioned this, but in any case it's pretty important. The archive expansion only works if the archived page is at <TALKSPACE>:<BASEPAGENAME> (e.g. The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal/Archive 1, or User talk:Woganhemlock/Archive 1); it does not work for archive pages that are subpages of <BASEPAGENAME> (e.g. The Sims Wiki:Requests for administratorship/Archive 1), or for pages that do not end in /Archive <number> (e.g. The Sims Wiki:Battles/Battle 1).

Rollback

Hello, Wogan. I used to think that rollback is just the same as undoing something. Is it? I'm a tad confused. Bakerychaz (talk page) 05:10, June 26, 2012 (UTC)

Rollback is more or less the same as undoing an edit, however it does not need to go through verification screens like undo. It also will undo all edits by that user to revert it to the last contributor, e.g. if I made 2 edits to this page and you rollbacked it, it would be as it would before I made those two edits. To quote help wiki: Users with the "rollback" permission are able to undo bad edits with one click, by using the rollback link on diff pages, user contributions list, or the list of recent changes.

Protecting userpage

While it is indeed possible to do that, only admins can protect pages. And, as a rule, we only protect consistently vandalised userpages. However I have thought about trying to get a hold of a MediaWiki extension which would allow only the page owner and admins to edit all userpages, but since pages here aren't vandalised much, and the abuse filter catches a lot of it, it's not really needed. ―ฬђ ^talk 01:42, July 5, 2012 (UTC)

It already is - when I go to block it it says change block instead of block, so the IP adress block must have got 'em. Nice work with that - if you see any IP's/accounts that edit in a similar way - i.e. adding russian names for other languages, mentioning Ladah, etc, don't hesitate to swing the banhammer. I might try and write a bit of abuse filter code (or get someone to do it for me) to shut it down completely, or at least try to, they seem to have moved on to changing game names. Not sure. My guess some of the code in it isn't compatible with HTML5/MediaWiki 1.19 which we were just upgraded to. If you see any other things like this it's safe to assume they are caused by the MW update. Idk how to fix it though. ―ฬђ ^talk 00:47, July 9, 2012 (UTC)
