In fall 2012 the focus of SimPrograms changed from providing downloads for the game, to serving as a community fan and news site only. As a result, on December 5, 2012, the name ''SimPrograms'' was replaced with ''BeyondSims''.

BeyondSims (formerly SimPrograms) is a fan site about Maxis games and The Sims series[1]. SimPrograms was started by Jud Hudson on August 18, 2000 and has since provided frequent updates on any and all news related to The Sims series. Originally it started as a personal blog for 3rd party applications for The Sims, but has since then grown to become its own community. At one time they released a few podcasts, but were unable to make it a regular update on the site[2]. Sporeprograms is a sister-site and can be found at http://www.sporeprograms.com/
