Sims don't need to be in the new [[Film]] career to become famous. Any Sim can become a celebrity<ref name="sims3nieuws" />.

If a [[Paparazzi]] catches a Sim fighting another<ref name="sims3nieuws" />, skinny dipping in a pool or dancing on the bar they may be fired from their job or get the "Walk of Shame" moodlet<ref name="simsnetwork gamescom" />. Sims can however drag the Paparazzi to court. Celebrities can also try to attempt to escape from Paparazzi.<ref name="sims3nieuws" />. In addition, doing a variety of tasks (including peeing self, passing out, and denotating/smashing objects) in public or private will cause the "Publicly Disgraced" moodlet and the inability to receive bonuses for 3 days. In addition, if a sim is recognizesrecognized as a celebrity within that time, the moodlet will be negative.

When Sims get really famous they may receive free stuff from fans and businesses, such as free groceries<ref name="sims3nieuws" />, free drinks<ref name="ign gamescom" />, free books at the [[bookstore]]<ref name="simsnetwork gamescom">[http://www.simsnetwork.com/simpedia.php?gamescom2010=ts3ep3 SimsNetwork - The Sims 3 Late Night @ Gamescom 2010]</ref>, free treatments at the [[spa]]<ref name="simsnetwork gamescom" /> and access to exclusive bars and clubs where other celebrities hang out<ref name="ign gamescom" />,. Sims may also receive simoleons for showing up at parties and having their picture taken<ref>[http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/thesims3latenightexpansionpack/news.html?sid=6275284&mode=previews GameSpot - The Sims 3: Late Night Exclusive Hands-On - A Brief Look at the New Expansion]</ref>.
