A Sim's celebrity status ranges from 1 to 5 stars. Players can tell whether a Sim is a celebrity or not by hovering the pointer at the Sim. The celebrity level will be displayed along with their names. Sims cannot socialize automatically to celebrities. Ordinary Sims and lower-level celebrities must greet and impress them first in order to unlock social interactions with them. Sims who meet celebrities at work don't need to impress them, though. Map to the Stars lifetime reward is able to show the whereabouts of all celebrities around the town depending on their celebrity level.

From map view, celebrity houses are recognized as a house with a star in golden map tag. Sims cannot click on it to visit their home. Sims must manually go to their house and use the call box. If they don't know the Sims or dislike them, they won't allow them to enter.
A Sim's celebrity status is displayed by 1 to 5 stars. Sims must perform certain tasks and brag about themselves in order to gain a higher celebrity status. The neighborhood already has celebrities and one way to launch sims way into stardom is to befriend other celebrities. Celebrity NPC's are distinguished by having a gold star over their heads.

Obtaining Celebrity Points
Sims don't need to be in the Film career to become famous. Any Sim can become a celebrity.

There are several way to become a celebrity and obtain celebrity points to level up to higher status. Once Sims gain celebrity status, it won't decrease or be lost, thus Sims will permanently become a celebrity.confirm Sims who are celebrities have an additional journal in their Simology panel; Celebrity Journal.

Impressing Celebrities
If a paparazzi catches a Sim fighting another, skinny dipping in a pool or dancing on the bar they may be fired from their job or get the "Walk of Shame" moodlet. Sims can, however, drag the paparazzi to court. Celebrities can also try to attempt to escape from paparazzi. In addition, doing a variety of tasks (including peeing themselves, passing out, and detonating/smashing objects) in public or private will cause the "Publicly Disgraced" moodlet and the inability to receive bonuses for 3 days. In addition, if a sim is recognized as a celebrity within that time, the moodlet will be negative.
The first way to become a celebrity is to impress one. Several premade neighborhoods, such as Bridgeport, Barnacle Bay, and Hidden Springs already have premade celebrities. Pre-Late Night neighborhoods, adventure destinations, and Starlight Shores however don't have celebrities. If players don't have Late Night, Sims will not be recognized as a celebrity, even if the expansion pack is installed later.

Sims must greet a 1-star celebrity, as higher star celebrities might reject being greeted. Sims then must impress them about their skills, careers, wealth, or name other celebrities they've known. The higher the skills, career levels, and money the Sim has, the more likely the celebrities will accept them. If Sims fail to impress them, they will reject socializing with them. Mean Spirited and Evil celebrities will reject them meanly.
When Sims get really famous they may receive free stuff from fans and businesses, such as free groceries, free drinks, free books at the bookstore, free treatments at the spa and access to exclusive bars and clubs where other celebrities hang out. Sims may also receive simoleons for showing up at parties and having their picture taken. Sims could even make a living out of all the freebies they receive (if they are at Level 5) by selling them and not have to work. Being a Celebrity pays (in simoleons). Just don't keep spending!

Certain traits of the celebrities will make them easier to be impressed, as long as the traits are related to the skills and careers.
If a consignment store register recognizes a Sim as a celebrity they may get a discount and The Recognized as a Celebrity moodlet.

Easily Impressed celebrities will be influenced with any skills and careers. Snobs aren't impressed with wealth. Additionally, Sims with Star Quality trait can impress celebrities faster.
Celebrity stars do not decay or can not be lost. If a Sim gains a star, they will be a celebrity forever, even after death.

Opportunities
Film Career
If a celebrity sim has a child, the child may inherit the celebrity status when he or she grows up. Sims at the top of their career will gain celebrity status faster. However, this may because of the initial relationship a child will have with the parents. If the mother is a celebrity and the father also lives in the same household and is a celebrity (even if he is not a celebrity but the mother's is high enough), then the child's initial relationship with the parents will be the cause of any stars the child achieves at birth.
Upon reaching level 4 (Personal Assistant) in Film career, Sims gain celebrity points. Starting with that level, celebrity status is also a performance factor for Sims to be promoted. This means that working in this career track guarantees a starting celebrity status.
